Gold & Silver Coins

Doing a search on this forum, this topic was discussed in 2011. As this was three years ago, I am posting this hoping that perhaps others may have more recent information or experience with this topic.
The question is how to bring Gold & Silver coins into Mexico. If anyone is familiar with regulations or has personal experience, or even helpful suggestions, it would be appreciated. If PMs can be brought it, how best to secure them, etc.
The last time this topic was addressed, comments were made about whether or not it was thought to be a good idea and criticisms, etc. ensued. To be clear, I am not asking for a discussion on what people think about the value of owning or storing the metals.
