Demonio's Guide For Renewing An FM3 Empty Demonio's Guide For Renewing An FM3

Post by Demonio Sat Jun 12, 2010 1:18 pm

Requisitos
Requirements

• Solicitud de trámite (Formato de estancia)
Online application (See below for instructions. Click on link to complete application.)

• Original de la forma migratoria.
Your original migratory form (FM3).

• Comprobante de pago de derechos.
Receipt of payment of application fees (Note: You must obtain a payment form at the INM office, then pay the fees at any nearby bank. The bank will issue a receipt that you'll submit to INM. Guad INM also want one copy of the receipt).

• Escrito bajo protesta de decir verdad en el que manifieste que subsisten la condiciones bajo las cuales le fue concedida la característica migratoria, así como manifestación de las actividades que se encuentra realizando.
A written and signed declaration under oath stating you maintain the conditions whereby your migratory status was granted and that your activities within Mexico (Rentist, etc.) also remain unchanged.

(EXEMPLAR OF DECLARATION)

Dirigido al Instituto Nacional de Inmigración:
To the National Institute of Immigration:

Yo, Your Name, bajo protesta de decir verdad declaro que mantengo las mismas condiciones y actividades realizadas bajo las cuales me fue concedida mi característica migratoria (FM3), Deseo prorrogar mi característica migratoria (FM3). (Note: Complete this in Spanish. The English translation below is FYI)
I, Your Name, declare under penalty of perjury that I maintain the same conditions and activities under which my migratory status (FM3) was granted. I wish to renew my migratory status (FM3).

Note: The Guadalajara INM Office sometimes requires proof of residence. They’ll accept a copy of a utility bill as long as your name appears on it. This does not appear as an official requirement, but is needed – at least in Guad.

(INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING ONLINE APPLICATION)

On the Formato migratorio para trámites de estancia (Migratory format) page (click on link above) you will complete the online application that you must print out and take to INM together with the other required documents. Ensure pop-up blocker is disabled on your web browser because an Adobe Reader pop-up page of the completed application that you’ll need to print will appear when you finish entering your information and click on Guardar (Save).

From the ¿Qué desea hacer? (What do you want to do?) pull down menu, select Extender la estancia (Extend my stay)

From the Especifique (Specify) pull down menu, select Prorroga de No inmigrante (Renew migration status of non-immigrant – FM3)

The rest is filling in your personal information. It is very important the information is entered EXACTLY as it appears in your passport. Double and triple check ALL your entries because if even one error is detected by INM, your application will be rejected and you'll need to start from scratch. No changes can be made on the application once it's printed out.

Once your application is accepted by INM, you will be provided with a document that instructs you how to track the progress of your application online. When your new FM3 is ready, you return to INM with the required "infantil" size photographs - three front, two profile. They will then finger print you and issue your new FM3.

Good Luck! -- G

Great info but they are also asking for bank statements in Guad, not sure why. Little uniformity in procedures at least at this juncture.

For the pago de derechos go here: http://derechos.inami.gob.mx/WebDatos.aspx

Choose DSMO from the drop down, enter your first and last name. Hit aceptar

Next page choose Art. 8 Fracc II and then at the drop down below choose Guadalajara.

This will create the pdf form to take to the bank to pay.

Also don't forget to bring the photos.

Spencer, You're right about the bank statements in Guad. For a new FM3. I took a pension verification letter and even translated it since the INM website doesn't say bank statements are required. They accepted my pension verification, but wanted bank statements too. Luckily I had taken them just to be safe. I also took a just to be safe utility bill and needed that too.

Good info on the comprobante de derechos, cuz that'll save some time in Guad. Thanks

Personal fisica, yes choose that one (means you are a person not a corporation) and the article is for payment of FM3 fees only. I think there is an error because all the Article 8 Fracc II are the same just choose the first one.

Art 9 Fracc I is for FM2 assuming you are retired "rentista" cost 2799 pesos

Also I goofed and fixed it, I should have said pago de derechos not comprobante, still a little hung over and working too much!

Spencer, I just got an e-mail from a guy who tried to use the online payment form to renew his FM2. He reported that Art 9 Fracc I returns a wrong account number.

He was told that K0OS5010000GDL is the correct number while the online form returns K0OK000003GDL.

I tried several Art 9 Fracc#s and never got the account number the INM office said is correct.

Any idea what happening?

Looks like Art 9 Fracc. III returns the correct account number and the correct payment amount, $2801.

Art 9 Fracc. III por el refrendo de calidad en los diferentes caracteristica
doesn't seem to make sense for an FM2 renewal, but it returns all the correct information according the what the GDL INM office said.

Important Note: Immigration is screwing up on the new cards. They are placing an expiration date on them and many times it is random and not one year from the date of issue.

Check your card when you are signing it and look at the date or you may assume they put the proper date.

For example, a friend of mine renews in June but his new card expires in Feb!

Also, with these cards expiring, this almost ensures another personal trip to Guadalajara to renew.

Not more than 30 days before the exp date. I always plan on doing it 15 days before.

I was at INAMI today, arrived a bit before 10am, clients got their cards at 12.30pm so beware of long lines (over 2 hours).

Post by Abrria Mon Jul 19, 2010 7:50 pm

I am hearing so many different stories about photographs needed (yes, I know about Farmacia Guadalajara). I am dealing with Legal & Immigration on Colon in Ajijic and Susana told me I need 6 EACH front and right profile in BLACK & WHITE . I am going to Foto Luz tomorrow morning. Is it my impression that there doesn't really seem to be a consistent rule about photos.?

Thanks for any helpful information

This is Mexico, there aren't any rules one day and the next day there are. You can plan and still fail or get lucky. so far the photo thing hasn't been an issue for anybody, almost so.

Thanks, last year I gave in my FM3 and other info required to my facilitator in July, renewal date end of September, and got it back end of October. Wasn't a happy camper, so wish to do it myself this time. Hope I can do it!

Vis a vis the declaration letter. Does that need a witness, or maybe even a government official's stamp, or is it sufficient to write and sign the letter?
thanks, Phil Edwards
