Hi Folks, We are immigrating lakeside next month and could use some advise on our plans for iphone use. We plan on purchasing a new unlocked iphone 6 and after crossing the border getting a prepaid sim from telcel. Any advise on pitfalls to avoid or suggestions would be welcome. Also a question...with an unlocked iphone, can it be used as a wifi access point (tethering) for our ipad and old iphone? Thanks.

First make sure you buy the iPhone 6 that is compatible with say AT&T or T Mobile, you know it will take a GSM sim Chip.

I hope someone will correct me if I am wrong but I don't think that the fact that your iPhone will be unlocked will have any impact on whether you use it as an Access point or not
And with 4G I am seeing speeds both up and down exceeding 20 megabits per second. It seems to bounce all over the place, but it's fast and expensive

Just remember that internet time is much cheaper using ADSL, Cable etc than your cell phone.
