Landlords will hold out for a six month commitment for snowbirds visiting short-term. Most will not respond to requests for shorter times; at least not until the last moment with an unexpected vacancy. Rentals tend to be seasonal, for six months, or long term for up to several years.

We came down for 4 - 6 weeks every year for about 5 years prior to moving here. Usually in February or March. We never had a problem securing a rental at least 6 months in advance. We would always get them from VRBO or Rentallocator.mx

That is probably a good idea, as local realtors and agents tend to be as I described above. VRBO folks can be more flexible and are not giving up a commission to an agent, although there is a subscription fee to VRBO.

That is correct RV. VRBO is more for shorter term rentals. I take rentals for my casitas over a year in advance. Yes, sometimes I get screwed by someone taking only a week in a prime month.

Hello all, my 2016 Rental has been solved and we are now confirmed!!! Thank you to all that responded.
P.S. Used Airbnb thought it was only room rental but found a number of rental properties......so if you are looking try there.....they do charge you a fee for your reservation.
