Can't use generic .... and probably have to drop the gas tank

It is really going to depend on the make and model of the car and whether it is the sending unit or the actual gauge that is faulty.

1300 dollars on Nissan xtrail as the whole panel has to be changed, it broke once we replaced it , it broke again and we just fill up every 250km...
