Yes. Workers around as of yesterday; cement board and scaffolding around.

I saw the guys yesterday doing the work on the facade. According to something I read somewhere….the work stoppage due to need for further permission didn't preclude finishing with that cement board part. They were allowed to finish it, from what I read. I also noticed some white coating/primer whatever had been applied to part of the metal roof.

Can someone take a picture? I want to see if it is as ugly as it sounds.

Here is a picture I took before they started putting the cement board on the framework.

The next phase after Bob's photo will exceed your expectations of ugliness! Thumbs up

I'm going to reserve judgment until it is all finished. I am just looking forward to seeing that old relic breath life again. Best location in town. I always though a Senor Frogs or Margaretville would have been perfect for that spot.

It's been awhile since that place was an active food/beer joint. Why it never flew as a business proposition, I don't know. You would think it would be one of the hottest spots in town. Maybe it was a case of snatching failure from the jaws of success. Seen that happen in the restaurant business more than once around here.

I totally agree with CBob.....that place should be a 'Margaritaville' restaurant or 'Senor Frogs'.......ideal location for that style of place!

Great stuff. Any photos of Peter?

I saw him many times but only spoke once.

A short but memorable life. His son's eulogy was eloquent and very touching.

"Short life"? Maybe a different Pedro Loco? The one whose picture (before it cracked and faded) was on the tin corrugated roof of the former Tequila Republic was an elderly man famed for his colorful costumes, especially the hats.... now displayed on the dining room wall at Yves.
He also liked hanging out on Yves' porch when the restaurant was across from the lake.

gringal, Pedro Loco (aka Peter Moir) was not that old! In fact, if he were still alive now, he'd only be 70 years old!

If they could hire a good mural painter (wish I was there!) They could paint it to match the view beyond so it just blended in... with maybe Pedro Loco and Blanco Vino relaxing in front of it. Don't know if this translates well..but it looks great in my head! Very Happy

Interesting article in this week's Guad. Reporter about the delays and the intentions of the owner. He's not planning small or with cheap eats.
"high end" is the goal.

You don't have the world's most expensive paper handy?  Okay........words from the owner in the article:

"Rizzo is still keeping details on the name and management of the new high-end eatery close to his chest, but he pointed to a young lady identified as the interior decorator and the man selected to take charge as the head chef......."

...."the two men expounded on their intentions to develop professional training for (various jobs)........and promote Ajijic as a prime gastronomic destination..........."

And there'll be pie in the sky bye and bye.  Stay tuned. Rolling Eyes

Inside Lakeside is a great source for local gossip, idle speculation and personal opinions...factual hard news, not so much.

For factual hard news I usually go to Fox or The Daily Show.
But for local chisme and semi-uncensored personal opinions you can't beat Inside Lakeside. cheers
