Windows 10? Empty Windows 10?

Post by shana Fri Oct 30, 2015 5:12 pm

I keep getting a message offering me a free upgrade to Windows 10. I have heard both good and bad about that upgrade.
What has been your experience if you have upgraded? Satisfied? Problems? Returned to Windows 7?
I would like to make an informed decision whether to upgrade or not.
Thanks

Windows 10? Empty Re: Windows 10?

Been using Windows 10 for a couple months now.. Very stable on my Toshiba laptop which was running Windows 8.1.. (didn't care for 8.1 at all other than it booted quickly). We updated our other laptop (dell) from Windows 7 to 10 without issue. Both running well.

That said, Windows 10 is a very large upgrade file so be prepared to download when you are in least need of using the computer. Setup on both of our laptops was smooth unlike other upgrades we have dealt with in the past.

Good Luck !

There are many tutorials online instructing how to disable the upgrade notifications. Easy for a techno-keener, a bit daunting for a casual user. Click here for an example.

Some of these tutorials have you editing the registry. Leave this to a professional if you don't understand the potential pitfalls of doing this yourself. Or you could switch to Linux and not have to worry about it again.

Bueno suerte!

On my Dell desktop, Windows 10 will not recognize the install software for a Samsung laser printer (it reports Samsung is unknown to Windows 10). Online searches suggest a number of work arounds to try, but add the warning there is no solution. Windows 10 forces updates when it wants to do them, not when it is necessarily convenient for you. A way to stop this has been posted online - I have not tried it yet. Otherwise 10 seems OK.
