Anyone havee experience with a USB to VGA converter cable?

Post by Clueless on Sat Jan 02, 2016 10:14 am

I'm running Windows 10 and Windows 7 (two different computers) and have a Fresco Logic USB to VGA converter.

I installed the software on the W7 and the converter didn't work. I put the software on the W10, and it screwed something up and I couldn't start W10. I ended up having to do a reinstall of W10 and reinstall my programs/apps again.

I tried it in both USB 2.0 and 3.0. Nothing.

I did a Google with some but little help.

Anyone have any thoughts before I go to Benno?

Thanks.

I assume you want to add another monitor to your system? It may not be compatible with Win10 yet. On the Win 7 unit, I would go to the mfg web site and download their latest software for that adapter. The software on the CD that came with it may be outdated.

Now, comes the hard part. Getting Win7 to recognize the second monitor. You will need to go to display properties in control panel and get it to detect the new monitor. Then you have to select the monitor that will be the primary. At this point, I probably really have you confused. Anyway, try and see what happens.

No, not confused, just clueless on this point.

My w7 and the W10 have a feature wher I hold the windows logo key down and push "P" and get the option to extend the screen to another monitor.

The connector is from Fresco Logic and it's a Thin2000 USB display adapter. The small/lightweight computer I bought has just what I need, Powerpoint, with a little room on the 30GB HD. Perfect for me.

I loaded the drivers from the disk and it f-ed up the computer so it wouldn't load the OS. I had to load W10 again and everything else.

I'll check the mfg site.

Thanks.

Roy;

Thanks 100X. Went to the mfg site, d/l the driver and smooth as silk. Works 4X4.

I was looking for all sort of exotic issues/solutions. I should have remembered something I was told/taught in one of the classes I took decades ago. "When you hear hoof-beats, think horses, not zebras."
