Considering a refurbished laptop as a replacement for my main desktop PC. This comes from a good source, is well appointed in all other ways, but I'm concerned about power/speed and memory. Here it is, what do you think?

HP Pavilion dv6244us Notebook PC
Intel Core 2 CPU T5200 1.6 GHz
2 GB RAM

Your opinion. . . Empty Too Slow

Just 2 gig ram and a slow processor. Don't expect great speed in this unit. Depends on what you want to do.
Look for a 64 bit operating system that can handle 4 gig of ram and a faster processor.
Just my opinion.

Also avoid HP notebooks. They tend to run hotter than most, and in this weather they overheat and shut down.
A friend had the screen on her HP melt from the heat. Beer

My laptop has 2.3 GHz processor and 4 GB of RAM with 64-bit Operating System and it is hardly a speed demon. Works OK for most apps but is still brought to its knees occasionally. And I agree, HP laptops often have issues.

You guys are the best! Thank you all so much for your invaluable ideas and thoughts.

It appears a solution is at hand, it will not include this laptop.

Thanks again!

You can buy a pad with a fan in it at Steren for about $25. I use one under an HP and never had any problems.

A shot of air to clean out the fan occasionally doesn't hurt either

If you look closely you will see the data is old with some slight upgrades.

Okay folks. We arrive June 9 and need to know what is the best internet service (speed and reliability) in the La Huerta area of Ajijic. That is out west on the extended Ocampo across from Tio Domingo, Salvatore's little place.

Thanks a bunch!

Suzie
