I got a zirconia implant and crown from Dr Candy over a year ago.

Really? I may have check into that, thank you. So is the $15,000 that CBob is being quoted for a zirconia implant? I checked around to a few places last fall and was told no. In fact, one dentist told me they didn't exist.

I would think so. Mine was $12,000 mp a little over a year ago.

I believe Dr Candy's father has his own dental laboratory and make's all her appliances.

Funny they're called "appliances" rather than "parts."

They were thinking of calling it a "system" but feared people would think there was a do-it-yourself aspect to it. I'm technical, but I don't have that kind of dexterity!

For those that have had the procedure done, what was your timeline? I have read that you need to wait 3-4 months after an extraction before starting the process. Then you get the implant into the bone, wait 6-9 month for healing, then have the abutment and cap installed. Does that sound consistant with your experiences? Thanks.

I have used Dr. Barrigan and he was better than the dentist's I had in the States, also he had better equipment, and a lot cheaper. Is there a guy that went by Mexico Tom still around chapala?

Dr. Barragan and Dr. Edgar are the best. I just had my implant finished. Love having the tooth back. I had to have an extraction because of a cracked tooth, and decided to have an implant. it did take a long time, bur those dentists are so superior, I did not care.Yes, you do have to wait until the bone grows back with an extraction or have bone grafts, but Barragan is the only dentist I would trust with an implant procedure.

And I only trust Dr. Haro... and I started out with Dr. Barragan.

To sort of answer the latest question, I think it pretty much depends on the individual and the condition of their gums and teeth and the work being done
(1 implant or 4 or ?)
I do remember (as a teen) hockey players having immediate implants done when a tooth was knocked out... but they were young, healthy and had strong bones and teeth.
The question is best answered by the Dentist working on the individual's mouth. Good luck! I'm happy with mine.

Hockey players and the referees would crawl around on the ice looking for the teeth so they could stick them back in. The player would be good to go for the next shift......jaja.

The elapsed time is for;

1. the jaw bone to regenerate after a tooth is removed and
2. the jaw bone to grow into the implant to fully secure it before the tooth is finally installed.

The length of time varies with the speed of bone regeneration.

Dr. Edgard st Dental Express has done one implant for me. I will have another one done in a few months. Dr. Edgard has been my dentist for years and he's the only one I trust here. He's come through on several occasions for emergency treatment. And his sterilization procedures are excellent....and that matters!

Kiri,
Is his full name Dr. Edgard Macias?
And his office address is "Dental Express, Carretera Poniente 368 (Rancho del Oro), Ajijic, Jalisco, 45920, MX" ?
Thanks,

Can you tell me what dentist you ultimately selected and the approx. cost?  I just broke a tooth and the dentist up here NOB says the only way to fix it is with an implant.

I haven't bothered with it yet since it was a back molar that was removed.

Bob

Did you check with Dr. Candy to see if the remaining molars may start to shift without the rear molar in place?

Is there any new news on this implant topic? My wife was quoted the same price NOB for an implant as Dr Haro wants, which seems unusual. She has had the extraction, and the bone has healed well. I saw a comment that Joco dentists are also good, and one in Chantepec in particular. Any thoughts from this learned group?
