Post by lunateak Sat Aug 06, 2016 12:08 am

I have a couple of painted wooden chairs I'd like stripped.
Is there anyone in Chapala you could recommend?
TIA

Maybe "Just Hammers" could direct you or a carpentry shop. The "Bazaar" shop? Go forth, and report.

If your in Ajijic on Hidalgo Going from Ajijic Plaza go to 6 corners 2 1/2 blocks on the South side of the road you will see a little shop with a sign above it that says carpenter he has done a lot of work for me (Stripped my bedroom set and sanded it) Bed headboard, bedside table and a very large dresser was $100 American. He does good work but does not speak English. I used hand signs and google translate. He is a good man and a hard worker.
He also done a lot of other work for me over the past 4 1/2 years.

Thank you all for your informative and entertains posts.
I found a local, Chapala, furniture maker/upholster and was very pleased with the results and cost.
I will certainly use him in the future.

Thank you sooooo much for posting this information. I have five chairs that need to be stripped of one layer of paint so that I can stain them with minwax wood stain.
You were happy with the sanding job? Not across the grain?

Yes, they had a couple of coats of white paint. They stripped, repaired and stained them very reasonably.
