Airport Parking Garage

Does anyone know the status of the GDL airport parking garage? Last night it was once again blockaded with vehicles that prevented you from entering the garage and parking. It was the same situation as it was a couple of months ago when they were having problems but I thought once it reopened that the problem had been resolved. Apparently not.

It was open last Wednesday. Wonder what the reason is for closing it? Traffic must be horrendous.

I called the airport and they advised that only one lane is open for access to the terminal and said to allow an additional hour. Same problem (money) or lack of payment thereof as previously occurred a few months back.

I was dropped off Wednesday morning 10:00am.....not a problem. cars are only allowed to go in and dropoff at the international doors, then turn right and leave. cars coming in to pick up are allowed to go thru by termonal.

We went to the airport at 6:00 A.M. today and traffic was backed up to the highway. It took 45 minutes to reach the terminal.
They are again protesting about not being properly paid for their land.
They have erected tents by the parking garage and by the terminal.

What's the latest on this?

Its normal.

It was normal on the 27th. The cab told me that private cars have more problems than cab but I do not know if that is correct...

I am picking up someone at the airport on Saturday , will post..

Thanks Brigitte. I'm supposed to PU someone on Monday and I may just ask them to take a cab if the situation hasn't improved.

"I came in to the airport last night. A big mess. Fortunately my driver had the foresight to park well before the terminal. He came into the terminal and met me and we schlepped to the OXXO each toting one suitcase. It really wasn't that bad. If he had come in any farther, he would have been stuck in a very long line of traffic that was not moving trying to get out. The rain added to the adventure."

I have to pick up a couple of women on Saturday and take them back to the airport on Sunday so I am going to watch the posts..

And I have to decide to pick someone up late Friday night or have them take a cab. Updates will surely be appreciated.

Making an airport run in the morning (10/1) with an oldster, will update when we get home. Dreading it.

parking is free for right now, it appears

Was at airport Saturday morning, Oct 1 at 9:30. There is construction mayhem, but no tractors blocking the remaining lane. It looks like there is no charge to use the parking garage directly in front of the airport. Everything was running smoothly, albeit slowly.
