My guess: No little Chillin, no vast Poppa. Reverting to original concept when they were open before. Basically a Mexican menu. Probably a practical plan, but we'll have to wait and see, like Bob suggests.

My wife was talking to Rene yesterday and she said that the "toms bar" location would be renamed "Just Chillin", and that "baby chillin" is closed.
The menu at the "new" Just Chillin would be as it was in the old west Ajijic location.
That fits with their Facebook announcement. Beer Beer

I wonder if any of the restaurants had signed a working agreement. If so, things could get complicated, especially if the others had closed their locations and moved their whole operation there!

Huh?? They said they will have a live band on Monday nights. Is that the only night your group goes out?

They have told US citizens that they are not welcome. I suspect many will not be going there. Their FB comments have turned a lot of people off.

Seriously? That would incredibly bad business practice. Would you please quote those Facebook comments for those of us who do not follow it?

Since US citizens are a major part of their business that seems unlikely. I will wait until someone more credible than WD Barr verifies that statement.

Again, WD distorts and twists. He took "if you voted for Trump leave Mexico" and turned it into "they told Americans they weren't welcome at Just Chillin.'" He is a very unreliable source for information and facts.
I do not think how Just Chillin reacted to the election result was the best business move. However, they know their customer base so I will assume they know what they are doing.

Just Chillin simply doesn't want a$$holes in their restaurant (you know the ones). Can you blame them. I don't like those types in Mexico either.

You're so right, Bob! I was in Just Chillin' the day after the election, and they were just as friendly as they have always been. They didn't ask who anyone voted for, but hugs were given freely all around!
Now, they did have a punching bag with Trump's face hanging from the ceiling, but never mentioned it. EVERYONE in the place walked up to it and either punched it once. or really wailed on it! The Just Chillin' owners never encouraged OR discouraged it!

The emotion will drop over time.  I didn't see anything that offended me much.  BUT the go home crap to Trump supporters is just about as stupid as folks in USA saying to the Mexicans go home. Joining in this poke eye out behavior just makes people blind. But I don't blame folks for feeling this way its just not very constructive. WD blew it out of its proportions to what was actually said.  The speak Spanish comment surprised me more and since I don't I probably won't go to Chillin. I would never say this to a spanish only speaker in the US so I don't expect to be told this in Mexico especially by a business that caters to English speakers. Strange way to do business but probably emotions are in play here.

So if China adopted some trade and immigration policies that could potentially devastate the US economy and you lived in a US neighborhood with lots of Chinese expats and some of those expats supported those policies you wouldn't tell them to get out also???

Being in potentially the same boat as the Mexicans I can totally understand how they feel and agree with them.

No I would not. Governments and people are not the same thing. Besides horrible example Bob as China does practice unfair trade policies. Go try to do business in China and see.

Well that's where I (and the Mexicans) disagree.

Governments and the people that support them are exactly the same thing.

BTW.......I worked for a company that did huge business with China.

....and then there's the 46% who didn't vote for anybody. Let's face it: if they aren't happy with the way things turned out, they have no one to blame but themselves.
Darn shame, isn't it?

I had many a client who I did not agree with but I learned early on that the best way to get even with someone in business is "sell them something." When any company or industry tells some or half or all people they disagree with to "go away" then they should sit down and give it some more thought.

Like the pre WWII, Japanese phobia in the US or sentiments of German Christians of Jews at that same time?
Now the US has an electorate and government with views of Mexicans that are in lock step.

The problem is that the US has turned a blind eye to the illegals until now because they needed them to perform all the low paying jobs that no one else would do. Kicking them out after many years is unfair.
