Poisoner Empty Poisoner

Post by itsme Mon Jan 16, 2017 5:55 pm

This from TOB:
Poisoned meat was found this morning on the path to Tepalo. It will be taken to the Proteccion Civil offices on the libramiento.

Please be careful with your dogs, this criminal is not finished until we catch him.

Hope no children get near any of that as they tend to put much in their mouths. This person has to be stopped before something like that occurs!

We always hear that "suspected" poisoned meat was found but never hear what the results from any tests are. Are all these discoveries actually poison meat or not? Anyone know?

You're right, Bob. There is no way of knowing for sure if the meat is tainted until the toxicology results come back. The meat I found on the entrance to Plaza Bugambillas parking structure looked like it had been dipped in something red, part of the samples were red and part were natural. That was 2 or 3 weeks ago and I haven't heard from anyone yet as to the results. I will revisit the bomberos in another week to see if they know anything.

I will say that the vet's office seemed very uninterested in the meat and I never got the feeling they were going to really do anything with it. I wonder what it costs to get the meat tested and who pays for it. That could be a real deterrent. Doubt anyone will charge Protección Civil. . .

Shouldn't the dog lover's and compassionate people have a fund raiser to pay for the testing?

It lifts the burden from the vets..
Just an idea..

Or short of that get the pet owners and walkers to be vigilant and be on the look out on their walks.. Have a meeting and get organized...

Be on the look out for what? More "suspected" meat? Since critters tear apart garbage bags that are left on the streets at night I see pieces of meat and other food type stuffs on the sidewalks and streets all the time. Almost every day.

So true, Bob! Maybe the meat found in the Plaza Bugambillas plaza that had been dipped in red, was just catsup or BBQ sauce? I know that some of the meat found around town has been tainted with something, but that doesn't mean that every scrap of meat left on sidewalks or roads is going to be poisoned.
The best thing is still for pet owners to be vigilant, and keep their dogs close to their side, so that they won't ingest any suspect meat.

I would say it is important that people teach their dogs not to pick up any food off the street. Not hard to do with a bit of patience. Our present dogs are pure MSD, and one will not even sniff food anymore, even though she is off leash most of the time on our normal walks (she is trained to obey voice and hand signals). The other one was on the street for over a year, he has been with us 6 months and is  to the point of sniffing and then backing away, does not pick up food anymore. They know to only accept treats from us or the Vet!!

Catsup or BBQ sauce. . .whatever, SueGarn. Did YOU see the samples??? With your own eyes? Have YOU talked to the fire chief about the samples??? Did YOU talk to the vets about the samples?

Could be one of a lot of things, my first guess is Red Antifreeze.

At the beach in Michoacan for Christmas, where 18 dogs had been poisoned two weeks prior. It was stunning, not a single dog anywhere except for the one that came with us.

Sorry trailrunner, but you obviously didn't read my complete post. I did say that some of the meat has been tainted, and I know some dogs have died because of this, but that doesn't mean that every single scrap of meat you see on the street is poisoned. Like Bob said, dogs rip apart garbage bags with kitchen scraps in them as well and spread it around.

Also, have YOU seen all of the samples with your own eyes? I think not! Show us 40+ toxicology reports then...

There ARE no 40+ toxicology reports. If you want to know about that you will need to talk to the Ministerio Publico.

I've seen 1 sample, the bone and fat and pieces were all raw. I'm not talking about garbage.

And you are right, SOS, it did look like antifreeze.

Antifreeze is yellow, transmission fluid is red. Both I assume toxic, but a stretch as a poison.

Ingested in sufficient quantity, but a dipped piece of meat won't do much.

My local fix it guy for the house had his dog poisoned Monday on the Malicon in Ajijic.  Luckily the vet was able to save the dogs life. Its still going on folks.

The problem with antifreeze is it tastes sweet to animals thus when you find a pool hose it down. It is toxic but I have no idea what a dose sufficient to kill is nor do I want to get depressed and look it up. Many types of antifreeze from harmless RV/house pipes antifreeze to perm. antifreeze we use with aluminum engines these days that is toxic according to info on side of can.

Yes, antifreeze is very toxic. It destroys the liver. I had a young Chihuahua that slowly died (over about 5 days) from liver damage a few years ago and Dr. Ladron said it looked like he maybe got into some antifreeze. Cars/Trucks can drip the stuff all over the place. Antifreeze doesn't kill suddenly like what has been reported from others with poisoned dogs. It take a few days as the liver deteriorates.
