Upcoming Meeting with INM - all welcome

One of my Shriner friends passed along this message. I am unable to attend but hopefully someone else here can attend and provide a summary for us.


The Lake Chapala Shrine Club has been contacted by the Mexican Immigration Office in Chapala  with a request that the Shriners organize a group of Expat Organizations to attend a presentation by the  following Immigration Authorities:

Speakers:  Delegada : Guillermina Cortez (Spanish only)
         
                   Asst. Delegada:  Amanda Varela ( Spanish and English)

Subject:     The INM office wishes to update the Expat community on the latest Immigration Laws, Rules and Regulations.  They also wish to caution us on the proper way to use our Temporary and Permanente Mexican Immigration cards when entering and exiting Mexico to avoid having those cards invalidated and have to start the Visa  application process all over again.

                  Lastly, The INM Officials want to assure the Foreign Community that no matter what happens  with US/ Mexico relations regarding a Wall or repatriation of Illegal Immigrants being deported from the United States, our status as Temporary or Permanent residents in Mexico is secure and that we are welcome to reside here.

I am not sure the local INM carries much weight if the MX government decides to make changes
Sadly if this meeting follows the pattern of other gathering from local municipal or transio police or other state representatives etc., it will be long and boring with not much substance
But hey if you have time to kill please attend and report back

The big deal is that we all have outside retirement income and it adds up to around the same amount as all the other tourism brings in.

There was a cute movie where this group robs a bank and flies to Brazil. At Customs the agent says "Anything to declare?" The robber unzips the luggage and lifts the lid a little so the guy can peer in. The agent looks in, gets a huge smile and says "Welcome to Brazil"
