Low-key Oaxaca fest in Chapala Empty Low-key Oaxaca fest in Chapala

Just a head's-up for anyone who might be interested that there's a low-key Oaxacan food and arts thing going on in the Chapala plaza this weekend (don't know for how long). The art and jewelry is nothing special but there's a huge stand with typical sweets and then the main attraction: a guy selling at least 4 of the classic moles, including mole negro and coloradito that are as good as the best we've had during trips to Oaxaca. He also has very good drinking chocolate. Prices are excellent.

P.S. An alert friend pointed out that there's much more to this than mole. Per this week's "Guadalajara Reporter:"

"If you missed the spectacular Guelaguetza performances recently in Poncitlan, you still have a chance to see them in Chapala, Sunday, August 6, 6 p.m. in the main plaza. Workshops on making kites, pinwheels and puppets are held July 27 through Monday, August 7 at 5 p.m. on the plaza."
