Kindle E reader Empty Kindle E reader

Post by WillieRae Mon Aug 28, 2017 9:48 am

Help! My husband's E reader screen is funky...the top portion has a grayish image (not letters) but no print on the entire screen except for 1 line of text at the very bottom.
Does this mean it's toast? Can it be "fixed"?
TIA for any suggestions.

Call Amazon and ask. They can sometimes fix it over the phone.

Looks to be around $10US more in Mexico for a Paperwhite--that's better than I thought it would be.

That price point usually includes taxes (16% iva) too.

You can probably trade in the old one and have everything loaded onto the new one. I've never done this but I know that the service is available. I have no idea what Amazon might offer for your broken Kindle. I don't know if the trade in offer is available in Mexico.

I can't speak to the kindle specifically, but both the kobo and nook devices use a microSD internally for system storage. You can split the case, pop out the card and mount it on your desk top and copy off your files.

If it is just the screen that's unreadable, you may still be able to download the books on your kindle Paperwhite onto your computer using your usb connection. I've done it from computer to paperwhite so I would imagine the reverse is possible. You could put them in a file on your desktop so they'll be easy to download onto your new paperwhite.
Sounds like something was spilled on it... the same thing happened to half the screen on my laptop but, luckily, the screen could be replaced.
Good luck.
