I use frozen chopped veggies in my dog food.

Oh. I didn't think of using frozen packages of vegetables, they're 30/40 pesos per. That would be way more expensive. Right? Tianguis bags are 10 each.

5/6 days of dog food is tianguis veg - 20 pesos, beans - 10 pesos, TVP - 3 pesos, splash oil - 1 peso, for a total of 204 pesos a month. Good food, good price.

Chopped Vegetables Empty Re: Chopped Vegetables

Many years ago a friend was lead Veterinarian at CSU for a project studying animal nutrition. They found, to their surprise, that dogs and cats can't assimilate protein from vegetables in the way that people can. Dogs and cats are carnivores. They would have to eat a tremendous amount of vegetable matter to assimilate enough protein to thrive. That is why so much commercial dog food is way less than optimum. They use corn as part of the protein count and the dogs and cats don't get the protein in anything close to the amounts listed on the package.

Something to think about

There might be newer data, Greg and Eddie's pack of dogs are fed vegan and have been for about 10 years. They look healthy to me.

Currently doing food elimination with Louie, looks like he won't be eating grains anymore. Especially corn. He'll get meat and eggs soon.

The only thing that makes my 16 year old mutt bounce around and act like a puppy is the anticipation of sharing my popcorn. He recognizes the pan that I pop it in and he knows where the popcorn is stored. His frenetic yapping and dancing start as soon as the kernels go into the pan.  bounce No microwave crud for us.
