If flying out of U.S I believe you must report 10K or over to customs. As to coming into Mexico you better check with customs. Gold could be a real asset for those involved in illegal schemes.

Having any high value items can be dangerous anywhere; particularly if anyone know you have them.

I don't know what the rules are for entering Mexico with bullion. However, I do know that when leaving the US, the maximum allowed in metal is $2,500 without reporting.

A consideration. Sell the gold in the US, then repurchase in Mexico. I realize the arbitrage involved but it should avoid Problems. Any way you can keep either aduanas out of your personal biz is a Huge plus. I can just picture their sordid glinty envious, greedy, corrupt reptilean eyes. Then there's bitcoin. You just do not want THEM to know that you possess a peer to peer currency that is outside their loop. THEY hate that. Try to remain invisible. My little rant.

Totally agree with Borderreiver!! Totally. Sell there and buy here. TELL NOBODY that you have them. Nobody! And always fly under the radar.

Just be aware the Mexican gold coin (21.5k) is not as pure as some of the others. The American gold coin is 22k and the Canadian gold coin is 24k.

Some banks (in Mexico) used to sell them, by order, to clients....don't know about recently.

So, then no coin shops (Guadalajara) as in the US? From what I know of banks, there charge quite a good size fee for getting those type of things.
