Chapala Pride 2017 - total bust

Last year, the Chapala Pride Parade was pretty much rained out. Many people (including me) just decided not to go due to the weather. I felt bad about this so when today's weather was perfect I decided to go down to Madero and show my support. The parade was scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM - I arrived at the plaza at 3:30. No sign of anything - literally. No signs on the roadway, no transitos to re-direct traffic, traffic flowing North and South on Madero like any other Saturday. The only evidence I saw of something happening was two Travesti Putas at the plaza texting madly on their cell phones. At 4:00 o'clock I wandered out to Madero and grabbed a bench in the shade - empty bench, no competition for premium seating. I sat there for 45 minutes - nothing. Traffic still flowing, no transitos, no "wardens". Nothing. At 4:45 I gave up and decided to walk home. En route, I found myself beside one of the two Putas I saw earlier in the plaza and struck up a conversation (pretty face, great voice - all that gave her away was her hands, feet, and throat). I asked if she lived in Chapala - no, Guadalajara (actually Tlajomulco - same difference). I asked where she was going - to the bus station to go home because this was a waste of time. I escorted her to the bus station then, also,  went home. Still no sign of any parade on Madero - traffic flowing as usual. It is now 5:30ish and I have no idea if the parade has even started (not hearing anything). I will NEVER attend a Chapala Pride event again. I mean, if even the Putas give up and go home...

I agree, Axixic. I live a couple blocks from the malecon in Chapala, and at 4 p.m. walked up to Madero/city hall with a couple of friends to watch the parade and show my support. Nada. We saw a couple of rainbow flags on the malecon and that was it.

I never heard a word about it. Poor advertising for sure.

Me either, never saw a single ad or banner or nada. Sorry it was disappointing.

An article in the Gdl Reporter a week or two ago, then I sought out their facebook page which gave the times and route.

I wonder if the municipality just stalled and stalled on issuing the permit until time ran out.

I doubt that. I suspect they were just too disorganized to keep to their own published schedule. It's kind of Mexican but works against them. They need support but lost mine.
