Newsletter

Anyone else receive an unsolicited newsletter in their inbox today? Interesting thing is, it showed up as a notice in my email, and I could see it there, but the message was/is not in the inbox.

Yes, I did. It looked like something that was created by bigforumpro who is the former host of this forum. Strangely it was only sent to my admin email but not my CanuckBob email.

It said I received it because I was a member of IL. Was it from the doc or was it from Lisa Jorgensen? Was yours in your inbox? Spam.

It was sent from this forum but not by me. I'm wondering if the host is sending out monthly newsletters for all their forums however I haven't seen any other forum owners talking about it in their support section. I do have the ability to create a newsletter but have never used that function.

I have now received two of them. And I'm also getting one from the All Vallarta (new) forum. Both letters are tedious and boring but I'd say it's an invasion of privacy to receive something that you didn't sign up for.
I check my spam folder every morning and, starting today Friday, there will always be chickies soliciting men. Like, as if, all computer users must be male?

Oh No!! I just got another email as follows:

You receive this e-mail because you are watching the topic, "Newsletter" at "INSIDE LAKESIDE". This topic has received a reply since your last visit. You can use the following link to view the newly posted replies, no more notifications will be sent until you visit the topic.

Great......time to put this BS to the spam filter!!

I got one, too, starting with blurb about a doctor.
At the bottom, there was an "unsubscribe" option, which I checked.
Let's hope whoever decided to invade our email inboxes gets the hint!!

"Following a topic" has nothing to do with this newsletter. Everyone can follow or unfollow a topic. There is a check box when you post. Since you posted on this topic with the "follow this topic" checked it will send you an email every time someone posts on it. Go in and unchecked it.

Right. For now just hit the unsubscribe. I haven't had a chance to look into it but I will when time permits.

So I found out what is happening. The forum host has introduced a new feature called "Popular contents Newsletter". This looks like something I can turn on or off. They sent out a "demo" to all their forums. There is the option to either unsubscribe or set it in your personal settings to never receive it.

I may actually send this out once in a while to try and re engage members who haven't come to visit in a while. I can only take so much of Slainte39's posts........ Jaja.

Just to compound the joy, the woman who puts out the Ajijic newsletter has found a new outlet: She's soliciting for paid subscriptions to a real estate oriented newsletter.
It came in a short while ago. (Now in the SPAM folder.)
