Nueva Posada

I sent some guests to Nueva Posada for breakfast and they came back telling me it was the worst breakfast they have ever had. Crappy food, cold stale coffee and horrible service. Is this a "one off" or has the place gone downhill that much?

According to TOB, they have a new chef and new staff. Neither group is any good. Considering the comfort and ambience of both the indoor and outdoor dining areas, I hope that Michael rectifies this problem soon.

One of my favorite "sinful" dishes is fish 'n chips with plenty of malt vinegar and tartar sauce. Went there a couple of weeks ago and it was perfect.
Went there yesterday and it was the worst. NO malt vinegar to be found, and a thimble full of tartar sauce. The untrained young waiter knew nothing about nothing. When I sent it back to the kitchen and asked for some enchiladas instead, 45 plus minutes passed and no food came. Another waiter brought the bill without my order included, so we paid it and went home. Yes, things are in a sorry state, and it's a shame since it's such a pleasant environment. Where's the oversight??

Well I certainly won't be sending anyone there again.

As we were leaving, the waiter who has been there for years was there and we asked if the restaurant manager was there, but he wasn't, so we told our story to this man and he assured me that he would pass it on since this sort of thing hurts the restaurant's reputation. Yup.

In ten years I've never eaten anything there that would make me want to return. And as pleasant as they are, I can't eat either the garden or lake view. To each their own.

Bad time of year for a hospitality business to crash and burn! What are they thinking.

It's been probably a decade since I ate there and nothing but the ambience has given me a reason to consider returning. At best, they featured "old fashioned" gringo food. Certainly not what I moved here to eat. Tried to eat dinner there last year, with a visiting friend who was staying there, and was unable to find a single thing on the limited menu that looked enticing, we left.

I may have ordered the wrong things but their food always reminded me of hospital cafeteria food. I’m sure they used to have some items that were OK but not what I have had. It was all rather meh.

There was a time when they had the best English style fish 'n chips in town, hands down, but I very rarely indulged in it since healthy eats, it is NOT.
I hear that the Brew House has good ones, but between the uncomfortable seats and the usual noise level, I'm not tempted.  Just as well.  Pass the simple fish and veggies, si.

They haven't been the same or as good since they moved from the Old Posada to the New Posada, and that was a long time ago.

I did miss something...has anyone with a problem contacted Micheal directly to complain

Why bother? I just quit going there....too many other good restaurants.

Anyone know Michael or how to reach him? Most probably don't. Obviously, nobody in management cares much or they wouldn't have reduced their dining hours to quit at 6 pm rather than investigate the reason for their reduced patronage.

Good advice. I hope they are all okay, but you're right. However, I hope someone in the family is paying attention. I would really like to go there on occasion for some well done Gringo or Mexican food in that beautiful setting.

I think they may feel that they would rather just be a hotel, and not have to provide a dining room. Their food has been rather mediocre, at best, for a very long time; well over a decade in our experience. Evidently, that is still the case. Maybe they are just renting out the restaurant facility & have little control over quality, if any at all.

I agree, RVG, it sounds to me as if they might have subcontracted the food and beverage aspect of the business.

That is the only reasonable explanation, but the quality reflects poorly on the hotel as well.
There are a number of good restaurants in the area that could use a better space...like that one.

I haven't had a good meal here for a very long time. Nice to take. Norte visitors for a drink. That's all.

We have been at the LNP almost every Friday for the past few years. We have rarely had a poor meal and certainly not poor service. We see Micheal regularly in the dining room. Just had a chat with him and his daughter, Wendy yesterday.
