Re: Driver
Hang on. I have someone who “sounds” really reliable. I’m using him tomorrow when I get a needle stuck in my eye again. I at first asked for a quote just to the eye place and then Uber back after going shopping after the needle but he wanted the whole day so he quoted 1200 pesos for the whole day. Let me get his info and I can tell you tomorrow how it went.

PM him on Facebook. Miguel Lemus Martinez. He comes highly recommended. He replied quickly to me there.

Ok, but I'll wait to hear what you have to say first.

Will let you know when I get home. I messaged him to remind him about tomorrow and he responded quickly. We’ll see.

Re: Driver
Had cataract surgery last year, took the bus in to Guadalajara, a taxi to the clinic and a taxi home. The entire costs was about 700 pesos and stress free...

Re: Driver
Stress free? Did you have a bandage over only one eye?
IMHO, it would be way less stressful to have a reliable driver taking you to your door after that kind of procedure, but YMMV.

I have taken a bus and a cab (and subway now that I think about it) to get to and around Guadalajara and back to the lake. It was not stress free — and I was just shopping. How you get yourself to and back home from any medical procedure anywhere is very much up to you. Best of luck, Gringal.

Yep. Before coffee is not good. My best wishes to Trailrunner, too.

Re: Driver
Hello Gringal,
Only had one eye operated on.....and the cab ride home was just fine. But I understand that you are more comfortable to have door to door service.

Obviously, there are a couple of posters on this board who don't have their first cup of coffee until just before they shut their computer off for the night.......

Yes, when I had both eyes operated on and was virtually blind with a heavy bandage over them, I was indeed more "comfortable" with door to door service !!!

luis alberto miramontes cerda <miramontes-transfer@hotmail.com>
He took hubby into Guad for cataract surgery, will take me for the same soon. He has several drivers. Best to email him early, tell him the address where you are going and the time you are due there, so the driver can plan the route and tell you when he will pick you up. (And of course, tell him where you live and provide a phone#!)

Re: Driver
I've had occasion to need their services more than once, alas, and they have vehicles in good condition with excellent drivers.
This is the one I've used the most:
Francisco Jr. 331 303 4298 or 766 1142 or 766 7048
He is willing to go in with you to the hospital or other facility and help with translation, too. (My Spanish needs some assistance)

Re: Driver
I’ve already described my latest ordeal with the Miramontes family. YMMV
Regarding the driver I described above I’m happy to report I couldn’t be happier with the service I received from Miguel Lemus Martinez. He will be my go to person from now on. Prompt, personable, good safe driver and could not have been better.

I deal directly with Francisco Jr. directly without going through senior. The fewer people one talks to, the better, IMHO.

That was the only number that responded. Emails were ignored.

Re: Driver
The Miramontes clan get my recommendation as they drove me in for surgery and retrieved me 3 days later to/from a little botique hospital near terranova.

Gringal is this the Francisco that was the auto mechanic? I miss them, very reliable.

Re: Driver
No.
Just for info: I hired Miguel Lemus Martinez from a list of 4 recommended drivers because when I asked if he had insurance and a license to drive for hire he not only responded yes but sent a photo of his current commercial auto insurance immediately. I was impressed as the others did not.

Sorry. I don't know the answer to that.
