We'll have to talk about the medical options you have Larry.

The nicest thing I can say about someone seriously thinking that US will agree to any expansion of Medicare is "wishful thinking". If any one knows anything about the US budget situation, the Government will have to cut Medicare and Medicaid, and possibly have to stretch Social Security retirement age.
It would be nice for American ex-pats and one could argue that lower cost of medical care in Mexico would "save" US money. What really saves the US Government money is not paying for any medical care outside the US. That is the sad truth. It simply is not gonna happen!

I think you miss the point, no one was advocating anything here just reporting on the folks who are stake holders who are each trying to play to their base.
But i disagree with you , we will reach the point of no return where things that no one saw ever happening might just come into play.
The world as we all grew up knowing has changed for ever, it's only our clueless leaders who are late to the party as usual

Slovino I pretty sure he is an insurance broker. IIR - International Insurance review looks like an insurance brokerage firm which sells insurance placed through an MGA (managing general agent)

wrong again

Wow , you know all i was attempting to do was offer folks another solution.
I have IMSS now but wanted to have a major medical option if I choose to go back to the US a personal choice.
But i have had countless people ask to help them find options.
I in fact publish several blogs offering help to future expats or existing ones wanting other options. Baby boomers #1 concern is quality medical care that is both affordable and safe.

If you have a question next time direct it too me please.

Thanks

Just wondering how you came to be using "Gringos in Paradise" as your website when it's a book written by Barry Golson.

If the baby boomers #1 concern is about health care, they should really stay home. It's just that wanting or expecting safety in all things is the mark of a person lacking a sense of adventure; a person who is not a risk-taker. Mexico is not a nanny country and I hope it never will be. The U.S.A. is where they acquired that sense of entitlement, and I can't say I'd miss them if they never "waved" on in to Mexico. If they do come, I hope they're prepared to take care of themselves and not whine about what isn't here.

So I'm a curmudgeon. Took years to achieve it. Rolling Eyes

Sorry Larry - think you missed my point. The discussion was that Calderon was seeking expansion of US Medicare benefits to Mexico for US ex=pats. Ain't gonna happen!!!
Keep pushing your private insurance plan (that is what you are doing), since people will need it here since they will not get Medicare coverage down here. Given what is going on in the political environment in DC, people will be lucky to maintain what they now get NOB, but nada SOB.

Just one minor question, do you personally benefit in any other way than the already stated? Wanting better than IMSS insurance has been stated.

We’re a skeptic group, being “Seniors”, and having a little extra cash, or fear of losing the bit we have, try to look out for one another and ourselves. The crooks search us out because we grew up in a generation where one could trust another’s word. Hope you understand, don’t intend to come across rude, just want to keep my pesos or at least spend them wisely.

P.S. I checked out the other three for mentioned sites and none of them worked for me on that date. Maybe my computer, connections, don’t know. Just thought I would mention it.

Well it would seem to me by the many previous posts on private medical plans that it is already alive and well amongst many of the ex-pats around the lake so what's the big deal if someone wants to show people another one??? Am I missing something here?

I believe it’s because we’ve heard these stories too many times. Bought in, only to discover that the company decided they were losing money and dumped the whole agreement. No recourse, we’re in Mexico and can’t afford to sue the parent company and would probably be dead before there is any kind of judgment. Remember; “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.”

You have to ask yourself why any company would want or insure the most costly (seniors) group to insure. It’s been tried before and others dumped on. Some, because just being a few years older, could not get any kind of coverage. IMHO

Thanks for the insight. I had no idea that there were private medical insurance scams in the area. I can understand the skepticism now.

SKEPTICS IS US. Which is part of the reason why we ended up with enough money to run away from home and enjoy a comfortable retirement here in paradise.
