Chapala Haciendas - high speed

Jim w - did you see on the other board that a supervisor for Telmex told him that they will be installing fiber optic in Chapala Haciendas and Las Brisas. The work is to start in July, and be finished August/September. They will be able to offer speeds of up 20 meg.

Remember what Telmex told us here in Ajijic/Chapala 3 or 4 years ago. They were going to double to triple the speed for all of their local clients. The majority are still waiting.

Actually, the new modems are capable of almost 20 Mbits; when we will ever see that is anyone's guess. Here's a snapshot from my modem, showing Maximum and Actual:

Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [Kbps/Kbps]: 1205/18996
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [Kbps/Kbps]: 766/6013

You can see the max potential download speed is 19Mbits.
