Bird feeders

Post by RoofBob on Wed May 22, 2013 10:00 am

So we bought a hummingbird feeder a few weeks ago and it gets about the same amount of traffic as JFK International during the holidays, nice. Then last week we get one of those clear plastic birdseed dispensers, fill it with the best bird feed (they tell us) and it hasn't been touched. They are both hanging from a patio cross beam 5' apart and next to the garden. Any insights folks? tx.

RB, most wild birds here are fruit eaters and not seed eaters. Sparrow and doves the exception, but for some reason they hate the feeders and will only eat off the ground.

Just be careful with that seed feeder as they can also attract mice and rats.

to prevent rats and mice to reach your feeder buy half gourd make a hole and thread it over your feeder. they slip on it and fall. This is how indigenous keep their foo safe. The have a hook and they hand the bags with the food on it and they prevent mice from reaching the food by puting a half gourd over.

I don't know....you ask Jim W and I'll ask my tom cats. I'm sure between the two of us, we can solve the riddle. Suspect
