Based upon David's comments about a false sense of security, I decided to find out exactly what the coverages are when we puchase Alamo's Protection Plus coverage for $35USD/day in Mexico. Our reservation for our upcoming trip confirms the following:
"Alamo Protection Plus (Includes CDW-TP, PLI, PAI, CDWEP & DP) USD 525.00"

We purchased the same package last Feb. and I simply assumed this was a complete coverage package. Yesterday, I started doing some digging by requesting that Alamo provide us with the coverage details including any and all limits. After two different phone calls, I had made zero progress getting them to detail the coverages. But one agent steered me me to a page on their website that attempted to spell out coverage details in a very general way. When I went to the detail for International PAI (Personal accident Insurance), I found that Mexico was not on the list of countries where that coverage was included or even offered! Not only is PAI included in the Protection Plus bundle but should you not choose the bundle, it is available for $3/day.

I would say that someone at Alamo has some explaining to do!
