Title says most of it.  So whom would you replace Ballmer with? About time is my opinion.  Ballmer has just been there too long. The write off for the RT tablet should have been enough in my opinion.

I don't think it matters any more. There is no one who would be personally invested like the founders were. They'll just move some people around, hire some big shots from other hitech firms, and the shuffling will go on forever.

But a good question.

Of more interest to me personally is what Jeff Bezos might end up doing with his purchase of the Post. And Chris Hughes of FaceBook fame bought The New Republic magazine... interesting choices for hitech laddies.

That's easy.....
He'll just wind up putting it online with marketing/purchasing through Amazon.com.  It's not because he thought there was a great potential/future for print journalism.   Very Happy

Well, his whole thing with the Kindle is he doesn't really care who buys them, as long as they buy more content that he can charge for. I am guessing the Post and it's other papers will be part of that. The Times is making $330 million a year with their mobile subscriptions already!

Bezos figures "who cares if you buy the Kindle and throw it in your drawer... I'm not making money on that. I'm making money when you follow up with paid services."
