I will be in need of a hematologist when I arrive in ajijic soon, any recommendations? I don't need treatment just monitoring. Thanks Roger

Re: hematology
Roger,
Here is a link to 5 Hematólogos en Guadalajara http://www.doctoralia.com.mx/medicos/especialidad/hematologos-1386/guadalajara-118046-1
I don't have need for a Hematologist but, because of my work, I find specialists all over Mexico and the US for other people. I use a several step process. First I check who is listed under that specialty in the directory of the city. Doctoralia (the link above) allows comments from patients -- interesting but I don't put much faith in testimonials. So there is more work...
Next, I check that they are board certified in the speciality. Here is the link for the Consejo for Hematologos. http://www.cmhematologia.org/Default.aspx Unfortunatly, the database of the certified docs appears to be broken. You will probably have to call and confirm that the 5 names for Guadalajara are all certified members of the Consejo. While you are at it ask if they have listed any additional members in the area.
Now, you know who is actually a hematologist. Next, approach other docs in other specialties and pop the usual "...if this were a member of your family, who would you use?" Do that with a couple of trusted docs and look for the overlap. That is the doc you want.
You may also want to put the names you find up on this list and see if there are any patients on this list and what their experience has been with a particular doc.
If you are looking for a particular sub-specialty, the approach may vary but that is another topic.
Best of luck.
