CB, I am wondering if anyone has been prosecuted over the past 5 years for visiting Cuba? I hear it is a nice place to visit? Last I heard, Tiger Woods was designing a golf course in Cuba.......MONEY talks, bullshit walks I guess?
Didn't some celebrity just get busted for visiting Cuba....can't remember who.

apparently none of you have been to cuba. there we were, yvonne and i ,having a pleasant drink in one of the great hotels in habana outside and all of a sudden i heard a coupla women behind us interspersing their conversation with the infamous:y'all,y'all. turning around i see's these 2 blondes from texass who flew down from miami on that excited states gummint cultural thang.-SNORK!
take a hike know nothing gubbers! the cubans do not stamp yer passport even if yer a fine canucklehead. ya idjets.
it would be really pleasant if you stopped misinforming the op and everyone else who plans to visit cuba from mexico and the usa. been there done that, you haven't.

They do say a minimum of 45 days before you wish to travel there. I haven't spent any time looking at the subject since Cuba is way down my "bucket list" of places I still wish to travel to. I guess that I need to get some guidance from someone more experienced than I in world travel?

Please do yourself a favor and sit down with an experienced Cuba traveler, even if it is one who can count the number of countries he has visited in his lifetime on one hand. The guidance that can be absorbed will be invaluable since their experiences and opinions are not clouded by travel experiences in other countries!

Sounds like good advice. We're going with a Cubano couple who are very expericened tour guides. The group is only 4 couples.

I've been to Cuba many times but from Canada; I'm Canadian so didn't have all the permission issues.
Cuba is a beautiful place and so are its people.

Re: Flying to cuba
no stinkin' tour. we even selected our own hotel but had mary here put everything together fer us. jan. is in the high season and is more expensive but we went in the first week of dec. which is about 1 week before the high season starts. the hotel was less too. if yer a yanqui take enough cash, the cambios will not accept merkin credit cards but our canucklehead card was fine. we took m pesos by the way and exchanged then fer CUCS at the airport cambiobrigitte wrote:Pedro these are the prices for January, maybe you have not check the prices recently or maybe you went there several years ago on a cheap tour....

US citizens should take Loonies or Euros. There's a penalty for exchanging $USD.

Re: Flying to cuba
you should be ashamed of your bigotry senor viagra. why would you call these women whores? the woman on the right runs a little souvenir store near our hotel and the other 2 are her friends who live in the neighbourhood as well.Pedro wrote:sorry,my wife took the fotoviajero wrote:You look like a poster boy for sex tourism posing with those jineteras..lol..Pedro wrote:apparently none of you have been to cuba. there we were, yvonne and i ,having a pleasant drink in one of the great hotels in habana outside and all of a sudden i heard a coupla women behind us interspersing their conversation with the infamous:y'all,y'all. turning around i see's these 2 blondes from texass who flew down from miami on that excited states gummint cultural thang.-SNORK!

Re: Flying to cuba
i said it once and i'll say it again if you travel from here, mexican pesos are just fine. you cannot get CUCS here in chapala. i speak from actual experience which you apparently lack. the CUC by the way is pegged to the usd, just so ya know what things cost there.David wrote:US citizens should take Loonies or Euros. Re: Flying to cuba
$MXP are too difficult to carry much of since $500MXP is less than $40US you end up with a wad. Easier with $CDN or Euro in larger denominations. Regardless of how the CUC is "pegged" the exchange rate is better for $CDN and Euros than for $USD. I'm sure we'll have a great time. Going with Cubano friends and staying in private homes. You've been there once and know everything, eh? Well, it is a small island.

David, sounds like it will be a wonderful adventure. You have planned well. You realize, of course, that when you return, you too will be a member of that elite group of self-proclaimed experts who have made one trip and know everything.

it is totally unnecessary to have a tour guide in habana because almost everybody speaks english and the area downtown has plenty of tourist "police" who's sole function is to assist you in finding what you're looking for in english
may the che be with you.

Oh yes, Cheena. I remember the endless expertise of johninajijic. No matter the topic, he knew more than anyone. Only an insecure little man would have such a poswerful need to pontificate on anything and everything--even things of which he knew little. It is rather pathetic. I hope he is happier where he is now.

Those were fun times, watching the Wiz make the fool of himself. My fav was his expertise on Mexican seafood. What a clown.
