Our Observation While In Ajijic Empty Our Observation While In Ajijic

My wife and I flew from Victoria, BC to GDL at the end of November and we leave on December 29, and I would like to thank everyone on the forum for such informative information before coming to Lakeside as well as while we were here. It has made our trip a very enjoyable experience.

We travelled to Mazamitla, Tonala, Tlpq, Guadalajara, Joctopec and hired a very competent, friendly, reasonable price and a great humours taxi driver, Miguel 045 333 808 8038 e mail jmzp84@gmail.com Miguel also picked us up at the airport at the arranged time, early in the morning. He answered our e mails promptly.

Just before arriving in Ajijic, one of my bridges came loose, so I waited the few weeks until I arrived before having major dental work done. From the forum, there were various recommendations for dentists, ranging from Wal Mart prices to Tiffany prices, and I settled on Dra Angelica Aldana Lema in Mirasol 376 765 5364. She speaks fluent English and her assistance is great as well. I had 2 extractions, 3 bridges, 11 crowns, 2 root canals, 1 surgery (as a root canal could not be performed) and cleaning for 45,300 pesos. The root canal was done by a specialist from Guadalajara who visits the office on a regular basis. During my 3 week of appointments with 17 hours in the dental chair, my dental work for this year is finished. Next year I will be making a special trip to have 7 crowns done and compared to Canadian prices, I will have a vacation, dental work and a holiday for much less than having the work done at home. Gotta love these Mexican dentists, as I have had other dental work done in Mexico during the past 15 years and have been very pleased with the results.

We were very pleased with the produce and fruit available here, and Tonys as well as the seafood market, just east of Wal Mart always had a great selection.

For liquor and cigars, we frequented the store next to Super Lake.

For a treat the Dominos pepperoni grande pizza for 75 pesos was wonderful.

For restaurants we mostly ate Mexican at various places including Neuvo Posada as well as at taco stands and also went to Lauries Mexican Market Cafe.

Thanks again, Ajijic, for making our trip to your wonderful town such a great experience
