Siracha
Is it possible to get siracha sauce down here. I am thinking yes, as we do have a Thai restaurant. Would anyone know and if yes, where it is available?
TIA

Re: Siracha
It's available. Walmart has it. Have also seen it at El Torito, Superlake, and almost certainly the "Casa de Gourmet" place has it, too.

Re: Siracha
Might want to stock up a bit as the company making Siracha is under a restraining order because neighbors complained of noxious fumes when the chile peppers were being processed and the company has to come up with a solution to this problem before they can continue the operations.

Re: Siracha
Also known as Viet Nam Rooster Sauce. Actually the company has another problem as this stuff is not cooked (not that the PH in it won't kill anything) and Califonia is saying they can't make it that way anymore. Did not know about the smell problem. Not a good year for the Rooster Sauce folks. I will pick up a bottle today to put away. How do you get rid of chili smell????

I've seen other brands of Siracha named Siracha (one locally). There are recipes available on the web>

Re: Siracha
Hmmm my bottle comes from Huy Fong in Rosemead Ca. It was bought at WalMart and has an
import sticker with the Spanish info on back. TUONG OT SRIRACHA is the title on the bottle.
Instruction on back of bottle are in English, French, and Spanish which I never noticed before.

Re: Siracha
sriracha mayonnaise
MAKES 1 CUP quote:
I’VE DUBBED this my “special sauce.” I use it on every single thing—no joke. I’ve eaten it with savory dishes from artichokes and asparagus to grilled steak and roasted chicken. I’ve even had it with pineapple and mango. If you have a siphon at home, try it with this. It turns a luscious mayo into an ethereal, creamy foam.
1 large egg yolk
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¾ cup grapeseed or other neutral oil
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons sriracha (see Pantry)
Whisk together the yolk, mustard, and salt until well blended. Continue whisking while adding the oil in a slow, steady stream to emulsify the mixture. Whisk in the lemon juice and sriracha until well blended. The mayonnaise can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
