Why Go Mac??
On another post someone said "once you go Mac you will never go back". My mother has a big AIO Apple and my wife and I both hate it when we visit her. We just don't get Apple. The Hardware is uber expensive and It just doesn't seem natural to me. I do see the elegance of the GUI I just can't make it do what I want easily so we run back to MS win 7. Creature of Habit?? Lack of flexibility from old age??? I do admit I hated Steve Jobs as he was a jerk.
Now a very smart jerk and an amazing marketeering jerk but if you ever talked to him when he didn't turn on his personality he made it hard to like him.
So why don't we GET Macs???? I expect the Apple folks to knife me laugh out loud but I am serious and not offering flame bait.

I agree with you on this one. I met both Steves at early computer fairs in San Francisco. They expressed interest in a game I was developing but that game was published by a different software company.
Re: Why Go Mac??
If you aren't into the publishing or movie editing software that runs on them then I consider them a waste of time. I had to maintain a publishing department of 20 Macs plus take care of the rest of the campus .... and they were a pain

That's why they make Chevys and Fords to each his/her own. I just like never having a "Blue Screen of Death".

If you really enjoy fiddling around with your computer go with Windows.
If your computer is just a tool and you don't care what makes it run go with Apple.
If you want both go with Linux.

What color is it on the MAC?
Re: Why Go Mac??
Whatever color your fully working and functional program is displaying at the moment. Mac's rarely if ever crash or lockup.

Re: Why Go Mac??
I don't know what you guys are talking about. I have three win 7 machines and in three years I have had maybe a lockup or two that were not power related. I would agree with your opinion years ago with XP but win 7 is a very stable operating system. I have seen Mac's lock up especially the later 68000 operating systems before they went Intel. Lets face it windows, Macs, and Linux are all very stable operating systems THESE days in my opinion.

Can you tell us why you feel that way? Most Mac support people do not have your attitude.

I have not seen a BLOD with win 7 in three years. Come on give MS some credit. Win 7 is a very stable operating system.
Am I missing something?

Not missing anything, just Chevy folks like Chevys and Ford folks like Fords. Both good, both have their champions and detractors.

Re: Why Go Mac??
I was a Windows guy for many years - like 20. But XP did it for me, and I went to the dark side. First of all, Macs do lock up. Except it's not the blue screen - instead it's called the beach ball of death. Nonethelss, I find no comparison with reliability - Mac can't be beat.
As for cost - yes, Macs initial hardware cost is more. But a whole new OS might set you back U$30. Compare that to a new windows operating system where first you have to decide if you buying personal, educational, family, business, large family, giant economy sized, or, best yet subscribing for a monthly fee.
Cheers,
Michael
