Can anyone confirm that two Oxxo stores were robbed yesterday in Chapala? Someone mentioned that it the word was on the street - but just want to confirm that someone thinks this really happened

I looked and couldn't find anything.  Notisistema, El Informador, El Mural, Milenio, twitter, nor pagina...doesn't mean it did or didn't happen.

of course. when there is a mere 5 people or less involved in a rumour-it must be true.

Interesting that you might think we are like a detective agency that will go around and interview people...

To set the record straight, we are not.  We - which is the royal we - as I am a party of one - and maintain a website where people can send in reports - if they choose.  Many choose not too.  The only reason the web site exists is not for my benefit - but for the community.  So if people in the community want to provide input - fine.  If they don't - fine.  Before this latest incident we had probably zero reports for about 3 weeks  - the community speaks, we listen -

and we don't go around interviewing Oxxo employees - I can't believe that someone actually expects me to get in my car - or perhaps take a bus - and go to the suspect Oxxo stations and interview the clerk. For whose benefit?

If someone is knowledgeable about what happened and lets us know, we will publish it.  If not, we will assume it never happened - just like all the other crimes that never happen.

you will note i were addressing chapalag. at least i was. she gave a long list of media that would never write about anything as insignificant as an oxxo robbery in chapala. the list she allegedly looked at, write about bigger happenings.

If it gets reported at all it would be reported in "La Pagina Que Si Se Lee" on Friday ( since it happened on Monday ). Things like that are local news.

Well it seemed to me to be a fairly easy and straight forward way to get the information that you were seeking.

Most companies employees would be instructed to never discuss a robbery with anyone. They would be told to direct any inquiries to some media relations person in the HO.

I went to the CostCo at Gallerias a couple of days after they were robbed and the clerk told me all about it.I'm pretty sure that if I asked the OXXO employees whether or not they had been robbed they they would have told me.

Lololol had NO IDEA.... actually, there were reports of a FEW or varies oxxo's being attacked and burned up over last weekend but it was in other states(México e Hidalgo,) far far away from here.. :(  and robbing atm's is frequently in the news.  It wasn't far fetched to think it may be in the news...yesterday, someone told me a whopper about Oxxo's(which i won't repeat incase someone  reads crosseyed and thinks it's true).  I asked where they got that information, they said in the news...but it's NOT true, was a total rumor.

It's pretty common for convenient stores to get robbed.  Even wanted pics at the door.  I wouldn't worry about it.  What would it matter now IF it WERE true, they're long gone by now.

You are right Chapalagringa. There seems to be no consistent rule for what makes "the news" (such as it is here) or not. You are wise to not even repeat a rumor as rumor since we have ample evidence (on this board!) of how what you write and what other people think they read often bear only a passing resemblance to each other. Cross-eyed, indeed.
