BIG BREAKING NEWS

A senior U.S. law enforcement official said Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was taken alive overnight in the beach resort town. The official was not authorized to discuss the arrest and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Guzman faces multiple federal drug trafficking indictments in the U.S. and is on the Drug Enforcement Agency's most-wanted list. His drug empire stretches throughout North America and reaches as far away as Europe and Australia. His cartel has been heavily involved in the bloody drug war that has torn through parts of Mexico for the last several years.

I put this here because technically it isn't local crime news but it sure is big news if confirmed.

Disastrous consequences are about to happen, whether it will be next week or in a month or two.
The drug supply to the US will continue to be business as usual, and only the simple minded DEA office and Gov. think Chapo's arrest was a success. This, of course, is my personal opinion.

Extradited to the US .... it could be a real problem. Jail here ... much less

When he escaped in 2001, his extradition had already been approved. Given that the EPN administration just completed the fight with La Barbie over extradition by winning - I believe they are saying our of sight and out of mind is better than dealing with these problems at home. Maybe they will extradite both La Barbie and El Chapo in a packaged "two-fer"?
