Re: barriers in la floresta
A friend who lives there and has no car is very upset. To go to the tianques she has to climb a fence...then coming back get her groceries back over. Otherwise she'd have to walk way out of her way. If you were 20 probably not a biggie..... and..... she has to climb over during the day. Makes her place unworkable for her.... and that's the pits.

Re: barriers in la floresta
I drove through the "barricade" area after lunch today. All it is, is a long pole, striped black and white with a counter balance on one end which is currently operated manually. It wouldn't stop anything and is in no way interfering with pedestrian traffic since anyone can walk right around either end. It looks like they may be installing electric controls at one end.
However, this is the Camino Real of many centuries ago and I can't see where anyone has the right to close it to the public......so I don't think it will last long, either.

That doesn't sound like what she described...could there be two different ones?

Didn't see any others. This is at the beginning of the development on the East side on the main drag going through lower La Floresta next to the horse rentals in the middle and extending to the beginning of the development on the west end on the other side. Haven't heard of others.

once subtle if you are referring to me , no im not bored. I have a genuine interest in this topic. if I happen to throw in a comment that's part of the thread its my prerogative. no need for stupid remarks that have nothing to do with the subject.

I'm not bored either, I use that road almost daily and sometimes twice a day. Sorry.

I think what she is talking about is an entrance on the west side. There has always been a big gate there but I've never seen it shut. Today it was, and padlocked at 10:30 am. There is a wall on each side of the gate about 6 feet high. The people who live on that long block (includes a nursing home) now have to backtrack into La Floresta to go into Ajijic. Anybody on foot is SOL.

Re: barriers in la floresta
It's illegal to lock a gate in a fracc. And to have only one gate locked when there are several other entrances is sending a powerful message: we are scared and don't care about anyone else but ourselves; and stupid to boot.

Re: barriers in la floresta
All this does is give a false sense of security. People will not be taking precautions to secure their own property because they are "safe" behind a "barricade."

Yeah, put up gates but then have neighbors hire the lowest bidder who doesn't check out their workers?

Re: barriers in la floresta
Just drove through La Floresta. Gate on west was up. No one around. Gate on east end was down. A Mexican man stood in the hot sun and manually lifted the gate as I approached then lowered it after me. I hope everyone in La Floresta feels safer.

Re: barriers in la floresta
I spoke to the man manning the east-end gate this morning as he lifted it to let me pass. He said it would be open in the daytime and closed at night. I asked if it was a public or private road and he said public.

And they think they have the right to close it at any time?
Folks, we may want to consider forming a group from Ajijic and San Antonio and filing a denuncia.

Amigo, we are getting stiffed by Chapala big time these days. Hell, they probably know about this and have been suitably greased to look the other way.
I thought things couldn't be worse than with Degollado. I was wrong.

Re: barriers in la floresta
The police use that road for patrolling--so what happens when someone in La Floresta is getting broken into at night and cops can´t get in? Oh, wait, I forgot. The gates are going to keep everyone safe!
BTW, has everyone in La Floresta been notified about what time their curfew is?

as a non citizen are you comfortable in continuing in this vein of constantly accusing governments and politicians of wrongdoing and worse?Mainecoons wrote:Amigo, we are getting stiffed by Chapala big time these days.
