drone over Ajijic
On Fat Tuesday I saw a quadracopter drone flying over the plaza. Does anyone know who owns the drone? I would be interested in seeing any video if it was recorded.

Swell. What time of day did you see this?

Re: drone over Ajijic
I saw it before the parade so it must've been around 10 a.m.. I wasn't the only one that saw it. A Mexican friend pointed it out to me.
Re: drone over Ajijic
I saw the fellow operating that quad copter to take video at the Chili Cook Off as well.

So, it's a private citizen and it's just for entertainment?

Re: drone over Ajijic
It can be used as a private platform for taking pictures or videos or can be used as a business. I've seen real estate tours using a quadracopter.

Pedro´s knowledge of drones and the American collective unconscious is beyond the pale.

If you are looking to buy one they have all sorts of RC copters and stuff at Mercado Libertad.
Re: drone over Ajijic
Only tourists call it Mercado Libertad, locals refer to it as San Juan de Dios, sometimes they jokingly refer to it as Taiwan de Dios.

Re: drone over Ajijic
Thanks for the valuable advice. The sign says Mercado Libertad so that's what I call it. I refer to San Juan de Dios as the whole plaza and complex of businesses.

No I mean the Mercado Libertad market in the San Juan de Dios plaza area.
Re: drone over Ajijic
Someone did a youtube video last year of ajijic and I recall a drone making the movie over the lake and malecon, but I can't find it now.

Did the fellow look like he was Mexican? Did you happen to hear his name?

"El Mercado Libertad, mejor conocido como Mercado de San Juan de Dios, está localizado en la zona centro de la ciudad de Guadalajara, Jalisco, México."
In English, The Mercado Libertad, better known as the Mercado de San Juan de Dios......

He was a Mexican fellow in his early 20's. I didn't catch his name.

OK. Then I would guess that he is a Tapatio Jr. and probably will not be reading this board. I would have liked to have seen a view from above of the crowd in the plaza.

Long before there was a mercado and which still exist today, the parroquia and templo (on the corner of Javier Mina and Independencia)....hence the name San Juan de Dios....no misas de inglés.

Re: drone over Ajijic
Back to the OP. I got to wonder just what the difference is between drones and rc models. Found this:
