Re: hector and commitee to see chapala presidente
how many threads are necessary for a problem in la floresta?
nobody has said this meeting is about that or anything for that matter.
maybe he's going for to renew his liquor license for mannix-jar!

Seems to me that Floresta residents want the barriers. Not one has posted on this board. Why is that?

Re: hector and commitee to see chapala presidente
finally, the wonderful harryb has come forth with the purpose: the barriers and the 2 tons of cement[purchased by the ferner committee] for sidewalk handicap ramps in which the city has pulled the 2 workers.
why was this not revealed at the get go?
if this ain't political[the workers],i don't know what is?-SNORK!

What is political about that? The man is trying to get improvements he should be congratulated for it.
What the heck is the problem with what he is doing? If he can get things done more power to him. Nothing gets done very quickly and it takes a lot of patience and perseverance to do what he is doing so kudos to him.

Pedro let Ajijic be run by folks who live here. I don't see many Ajijic folks telling YOU how
to behave in Chapala. We like Hector and the Committee and believe in them. You believe
in what you want to believe in and leave us folks alone to figure out our own destiny. If I
believed like you do that everything is hopeless and nothing will change than for sure nothing
will change. We are changing Ajijic for the better and really we frankly really don't need your
help and suggestions as they are usually negative.

Yeah right. A few ramps isn't going to make any part of this town wheel chair friendly. Come on down and have a look see........jajaja.
Re: hector and commitee to see chapala presidente
The handicap ramps here are not at all wheelchair friendly. Handcart for businesses friendly, but not wheelchair. At least not the ones I have seen in Ajijic. The ones in Chapala along Madero work just fine.

The ramps not only help people with walkers or who are in wheelchairs, but the many people who have difficulty stepping up to or down from the high curbs.
Many people walk in the street because they cannot access many of the sidewalks.

Good point, Shana. I know so many people who have had (or will be having) knee and hip replacements. The ramps help them get around.

I don't think the sidewalks are generally wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs. I also believe that the narrowness is the reason many walk in the streets.

Re: hector and commitee to see chapala presidente
I really can't see the practicality of using a wheel chair on many if not most of the sidewalks in Ajijic. The ramps do make it easier to get over the high curbs.
However, the streets on the SE side at least are full of pot holes, some of them getting pretty big now. It is interesting that the much criticized previous regime stayed on top of this much better than the current one.
For the amount of property taxes this town generates, only having two workers and having to scrounge for materials is downright insulting. In the mean time, go take a look at Chapala and there are workers everywhere building new sidewalks, fixing streets, you name it.
The rest of the towns in the municipio aren't getting jack either.

Re: hector and commitee to see chapala presidente
it's time that Ajijic became a MUNICIPIO.....that way our money stays in Ajijic
Re: hector and commitee to see chapala presidente
Be careful what you wish for. A separate municipio would require our own civil services including a municipal hall, mayor, directors, Police force, etc. etc.. I would question if there is enough money to duplicate all of that. In some cases NOB they are combining municipalities to save on the duplication of overheads.
Re: hector and commitee to see chapala presidente
was noted that at the last meeting between hector and the presidente, when hector asked for supporters. the presidente didn't turn up. sent his secretary with apologies !! bit of a snub ...hector seems to be trying his best but when things like that happen what can he do ?

Amount of property taxes??? This town would generate $500K USD per year at best (and probably a whole lot less). After Ajijic pays for its share of the civil services such as police, fire, garbage, etc. etc. I doubt there is much left.
Re: hector and commitee to see chapala presidente
Perhaps if we complain enough Ajijic will apply an additional "foreign ownership tax" of say an additional $1200 USD per year.........jajaja.
Re: hector and commitee to see chapala presidente
do you really think yer pittance of a property tax is enough to run anything? so what big bucks are ya talking about-SNORK!gvprod wrote:it's time that Ajijic became a MUNICIPIO.....that way our money stays in Ajijic
as to the hector vs. juaquin. the former is PRI and the latter is PAN and never the twain shall meet and the latter has what's called-ALL THE POWER.

Re: hector and commitee to see chapala presidente
Might as well include Chapala in the new tax too. Then there's enough for everyone at City Hall.
Re: hector and commitee to see chapala presidente
How about the people bitching about the need for improvements put their money where their mouth is.
Excluding the people who have done this!!
Want more security? Want handicapped amenities? Better infrastructure?
Go out and raise the money.. Put up or shut up!!

The Ajijic Delegado Committee is always looking for donations for improvements.
