You know, Pedro - you have achieved a significant status: only one person thus far has made it to my ignore list. Obviously the standards are quite high. Congratulations - you made it, kid.

Re: Salmonella at the lakeside?
the type most prevalent on this thread is this. i understand the species runs in cycles en mass from time to time.
some have disappeared of their own volition,so excessive use of repellents seems to be unnecessary.

Could you recommend an effective "zancudo" repellent?

Meanwhile back on topic..
If you live in the tropics eventually you will come down with amoebas and bacterial intestinal issues.
Educate yourself and take precautions. It's a fact of life.

Re: Salmonella at the lakeside?
I always liked this Bill Bryson quote from A Short History of Nearly Everything:
"There is no point trying to hide from your bacteria, for they are on you and around you always, in numbers you can't conceive of. If you are in good health and averagely diligent about your hygiene, you will have a herd of about one trillion bacteria grazing on your fleshy plains - about one hundred thousand of them on every square centimetre of skin. And those are just the bacteria that inhabit your skin... Every human body consists of about ten quadrillion cells, but it is host to about a hundred quadrillion bacterial cells. They are, in short, a big part of us. From the bacteria's point of view, of course, we are a rather small part of them… This is their planet, and we are only on it because they allow us to be”. wrote:
