Post by Chapalagringa Thu Apr 03, 2014 12:34 am

My husband and I had a wonderful lunch at Don Pedro's this afternoon and it's worth raving about. Honestly, in nearly 8 years living here it was the best meal ever eating out! Everything seasoned so tastefully. The tortilla chips are seasoned as well as the warm dinner rolls with bite sized cream cheese baked inside were yummy! My husband ordered shrimp ala diabla(red spicy sauce), I tasted the sauce, it was excellent! I chose an arrachera plate, it was mesquite grilled over an open fire in the kitchen, not something I could duplicate at home....delicious! Steamed veggies and green salad...perfect! I have never been served such a wonderful green salad here lakeside. The seating is most comfortable and tastefully decorated...I enjoyed looking at the architectural designs inside, it is definitely a finer restaurant...we'll definitely be going back on a regular basis and take all the friends we can with us. It was a delightful treat and I'm sorry we took so long to try it! A very nice place, could be in Plaza Andares but it's right here in Ajijic! The menu says they serve sushi tepanyaky as well as duck...have to try that. Monday-Friday they serve a lunch menu for 90 pesos a plate that includes a glass of red or white wine.

We were also treated with a scrumptious slice of New York style cheese cake and cool lemon pie.

Earned the "my favorite restaurant" spot!

Have no idea if it's changed it was our first time there, that's why I wrote that I'm sorry it took so long.  I shared my plate with little foot who ate nearly all of it, including dessert! lol  That says a lot right there! Little foot is a hard one to please, takes after their parents. XD

I think John has returned and somehow hacked into chapalagringa's account.
Thanks John, but it won't persuade me any better, than when you used your own name, to promote that restaurant.
I see you made all the boards....Sunday talk shows???

If the prices for lunch and dinner are any indication, it SHOULD be way beyond fine dining .

We're talking two and three times what anyone else in town charges for a good meal.  Well, okay, Number Four is the exception for pricey eats, but I'm trying to figure out what, exactly, brings the value of lunch to well over 200 pesos, per person.  I surely hope it's not just drizzling something around the edge of the entree.  And who eats appetizers, a main dish and a rich dessert these days for lunch?  Or even dinner?

It's nice to hear that "Little Foot" (child, dog, alien?) appreciates it.  Doesn't he/she/it get to have a real name?

From my experience as a mom, discrimination in kids usually comes down to "I hate that" or "I want some more".

John "the original" is likely dining these days on Early Birds at the local eatery and loving it.
 Very Happy

Wait:  I'm thinking of the wrong restaurant.  My apologies, sort of.Blackeye
I was talking about the one that moved into the fancy B&B near where the old Pedro's restaurant used to be.  That's the uber-pricey one.

Otherwise, I haven't heard much of anything that wonderful about Hacienda Don Pedro on the Carreterra.....It's pretty pricey too.
Nice cartoon, though,  if the situation warrants it .  On the other hand, maybe a well heeled parishioner treated them, so let's not be too quick to judge.

I've heard that Pierrot lives up to its prices.

Hacienda's mottoe should be, "You can buy better, but you can't pay more!"

Yesterday, I saw an amazing hand-written message posted on the bulletin board outside El Torito (Tianguis day...maximum exposure). It was about the restaurant referred to in this thread and the businessman who owns it.

To call the message "unflattering" would be one of the great understatements in the history of human communication.

Somehow I get a sixth sense feeling that there is more than meets the eye with the OP's favourable critique of this restaurant. Can't put my finger on it though.    scratch

Maybe someone had an "on the road to Damascus experience".

And many folks have been targets of these so called informed messages. We have some very warped people around here. All that I investigated turned out to
be not true. Don't assume anything you read on these boards are true. Some folks are being accused of being child molesters up north if you really want to know how bad it is. Police are looking for the folks doing this.

We ate there, mistakenly. Will never set foot in that restaurant again because of what the owner has done to quite a few persons Lakeside...nationals as well as ex-pats. I think a lot of us know what Rosa Venus is talking about. We boycott that restaurant.

Be very careful. Vicious notes on local boards like superlake for many business and civic folks is occurring. I don't know about this person but other have proven to be NOT TRUE! Now once again. I don't know this person we are talking about but this is a touchy issue now involving the police and many innocent folks.
