Best safe route from chapala to ensenada?

Is it worthwhile to consider the ferry? (2 dogs) Seems expensive

The drive from la paz to ensenada gets very boring. I have done is south bound from tijuana to la paz. The ocean views are amazing but they only last a short part of the trip. Going uphill over tje desert to the pacific then crossing back is very boring. Jusst my opinion.

The ferry is very expensive ($300 USD one way) and a very long ride (15 hours).

Here is a link to their website: http://en.bajaferries.com/index.aspx?n=31

Hi S, I am not sure about this, but I checked it out once and I thought I read somewhere that you can not keep your dogs with you on that ship.  15 hours is a long time to have to keep them seperately (in a cage on that same boat? ).

I took the toll road thru mazatlan and mexicali - great roads - 99.5% of time. the .5% was brief and a bypass with even the 18 wheelers going about 5 km an hour. Some of the scenery was boring - some was spectacular - easy drive.
