Mexican soccer players aren't allowed to have fun at the World Cup
"Mexican soccer players won’t be having too much fun over the next month leading up to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Their manager, Miguel Herrera, has banned the team from eating beef, having sex, and drinking alcohol. The beef ban is already in effect. The alcohol and sex ban goes into effect once the tournament begins.
According to an AP report, Herrera banned beef because of fears that it would result in a positive test for doping. Some cattle in Mexico is treated with clenbuterol to help growth, and in 2011 five Mexican players tested positive for the drug. They were eventually cleared, but Herrera isn’t taking any chances this time. He banned meat a month ago.
As for sex and alcohol, well, that’s more about just being a professional, according to Herrera.
“Let’s play a World Cup, we’re not going to party,” Herrera said."
