Tour of Tequila on Wednesday?

Does anyone have an idea on how we can take a tour of some of the main factories in Tequila on Wednesday, knowing we do not have a car and our visitors go home on Thursday.

We do not have a car. I know we can take the bus to Guad and then catch a local bus to Tequila but I hear that takes a good chuck of time out of the day. Hiring a driver is an option but we don't know any. Any ideas are appreciated.

Check with Charter Tours, or hire a local tour guide.  BTW, you'll be lucky to tour one distillery and have lunch given the travel time.

A number of forum members have been on the Cofradia distillery tour itself and would probably agree it is one of the better ones.

Try Francisco Miramontes, we've gone with his son Luis many times and had a great time. The distillery will give the tour, you just need the driver. Herradura is my favorite to visit, great tour.

I second Juanrey's suggestion.

After having toured the Sauza plant a few months ago, that is my favorite one now. Before that I enjoyed Cofradia.

All y'all have been so helpful. I found a driver and am now trying to decide on the various tours. Thanks for the suggestions.

I found a great driver, Alex (333-577-7765) who took us to Cofradia.  We ended up being the only ones in the group so we had our own private tour and lots of generous tastings! I can't wait to go back and visit some of the other recommendations.

Glad you enjoyed it. Cofradia is one of the better tours since they also have their ceramic factory on site. Did they take you through there too?

Yes we did tour the ceramic factory. Almost as good as the distillery and sampling room. So for $175 MXP, I toured the distillery, the museum and the ceramic factor. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.

Next time do Sauza. They use a manufacturing process unlike all the other tequila factories I have toured and their facility is ISO world class.

Unique manufacturing process with world class processes - you would think those would be worth bragging about! Our guide failed to mention either; might be why the facility was so clean and efficient.

It will be good to compare the other distillers as I explore more of our new surroundings.
