isp hider
I am interested in getting a hider for my isp and would like to know which one you would recommend. Free would be good as I don't need it all the time, but I can buy one if necessary. There are some sites which I cannot use due to having a Mexican isp. TIA for your advise.

I second http://strongvpn.com/ I pay a bit more myself, at $10 a month, for Open VPN, which is a more secure version. They have several packages available.

Not all VPN work with all services from NOB. Ask around for example Hula does not work with some VPN services.

Hulu is a waste of money in any case. Get a pop-up blocker, and a program called Ad-Aware, and then go to primewire.ag. All the free movies and tv you could want. Luisa, I've only had an issue with speed using strongvpn once, and that was over a year ago. Seems telmex was restricting flow, bottlenecking it. Hasn't been an issue since.

I've found that Iron Socket to be very effective. Netflix & Hulu, even Pandora all work perfectly, even with a Telmex $599 package. If you have a SmartTV that you can adjust the DNS server address then Iron Socket is worth a test drive.
I've also manage to get my Roku to work by tweaking the Telmex router. PM me if you're interested.

A new one recently out for MAC is SPOTFLUX. Been using the free version for 3 weeks & it works great. My download speed actually increased by 10-15%. From 3mps that's noticeable.

For the Windows SPOTFLUX the free, full featured 3 day trial is blocked by AVG virus as an opencandy malware attempt. Block the attempt, no SPOTFLUX.
Will try Iron Socket next. I still think the hardware versions through flashrouter.com are the way to go.

I was going to go the flash router path, but was reluctant for fear of bricking my nice Linksys router. That's why when looked over Ironsocket's DNS proxy techniques, that made more sense. They've have some routers listed with ways to "tweak" the router to be looking at their DNS proxy servers. And I've found that it works fine for me with my Roku. I'm still using their OpenVPN client on my desktop CPU.
Note: I started with a 1 month subscription to test it. I had StrongVPN at the time, for my SmartTV to work, Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, etc.. I need to hack/flash my router. So I tried out Ironsocket, it work great on the TV, OpenVPN on the desktop great as well, canceled Strong. At the end of the month Ironsocket subscription, they offered a promotional annual renewal at $2.50/month!! Heck Yeah!! Once I "tweaked" the Telmex router I had a whole house solution.

I use Hotspot Shield - the free version. I always verify address before I try to connect to a US site to be sure it has connected to a US location. You can download here - http://www.anchorfree.com/hotspot-shield-VPN-download-windows.php
