Another vote for Dds Marta Corona
Prices have been very reasonable and work very good.

Bad experiences known are Dental Express and Dentist and Maskara Clinic

Eloy Barragan for the more routine work!  Very modern office and equipment, easy to get to, very reasonable fees, very skilled dentist IMO. I would probably go to Guad for implants or to Dr. Haro.

I went to the office of Dra Angelica Aldana and was told to wait "a moment." Half-hour later no work from anyone, so I left.

I sent an email asking about what I need and no response so 4 days later, I sent another email; still no response.

I don't want to book an appointment and take her time for just a couple of questions, but since she got good reviews here, I do want to meet her and ask about what I need.

What should I do?

You could try booking an appointment to talk with her. Most dentists do free consults. They prefer that to having their schedule thrown off by stopping to chat with a drop in.

Office was very nice, however the prices were, comparatively over the top.

An implant was $10,000 and then to put a crown on the implant was another $10,000. This is in writing as was my request for the costs.

I will go back and try to talk to Dr. Eloy personally.

Thanks.

You might have misunderstood the price for the crown. I had many done at his place and I paid $3,600 each. That was six months ago. I doubt his price went up to $10,000 so fast.

i beg to differ. his offices are full service. if he and his root canal specialist wife can't do it, they bring in the people that can. i had extensive dental surgery done in his offices by a specialist who came down from guadalajara. his wife used to do root canals for several other dentists.

Ditto

I have dealt with 5 different specialists at Lakeside (no hearsay), and out of the 5, I can only recommend 2. Dr. Haro and Dr. Barragan. Even for minor work I wouldn't go anywhere else. Of course, others might have all the confidence in the world in their own dentist, but when someone has had a real bad experience with a minor intervention -- and more than once, he remembers and cannot make a recommendation.

It does not mean others have gone through the same ordeal as mine with the same dentist. But the question is: Did any anyone ever have a BAD experience with Dr. Haro (even though his temper is short, he's an excellent endodontist) or Dr. Barragan (who is an angel)?

For some reason, I pay much more attention to the people who tell me about their bad expeirence than their good ones (especially when it sounds so obviously overstated. Am I making sense? Looking for a recommdndation for a dentist Chapala/Ajijic aea. - Page 2 477249 Just trying to be polite.

I talked to him personally and he said there was a special way to do a crown when it is over a post and that is why the cost is $10,000. This is different than what every other dentist recommended her said (who got back to me).

And I agree about glowing recommendations; I want to know the other side. Still, one person can have the greatest experience with a dentist and another can carp long and loud about how bad the same dentist was. I do know every case, medical, dental, etc. is different; it's not the same as plumbing or cars.

I want to again thank everyone for their input.

My husband went to 3 different specialists and got 3 different ways of solving his problem , he went with Dr Barragan so unless you compare the same procedure it is not easy to compare price.

In my opinion, we should hire a well reputed and qualified dentist like dentist Hermosa Beach. As he treat patients in easiest way without giving so much pain to the patient.

Post by fwalman Thu Mar 05, 2015 8:47 am

We were in Ajijic for the first time in January and my husband broke a molar.

We had Dr Eloy Barragan and his wife recommended to us. Great experience. I need some more extensive work done and have had the consultation and it is set up for our next visit down. [about 1/3 of the cost than in Vancouver]

Good move! We had to move to Tucson, but if any need arises for significant dental work, I will definitely call Dr. Barragan and fly “home“ to Chapala.

Just for the record, the "significant rise in prices" is Pedro's experience or opinion. Others of us who go to Dr. Barragan have seen no or a small rise (as in cost of living type) in prices of various services.

Same here. I saw Dr. Barragan in October. There have been increases over ten years, as with everything else, but nothing unexpected or beyond normal COL inflation.

We didn't see any significant price rises from Dr. Barrigan either despite the fact that the new location is vastly superior to the old.

Big problem with Dentists here is sanitation. Doesn't give you confidence when you see the gloved dentist hand open a door and than want to put his hands in your mouth without changing gloves. See that much more often than I should. I have left two for simple sanitation reasons.

I have been to only one dentist since moving here seven years ago and one of the (many) reasons I continue to see him is not just the spotlessness of his environment but his attention to sanitation. He does not put on gloves until he is ready to examine your mouth which is as it should be.

whether some prefer to THINK that this is not so,i am dealing with reality based on the evidence of actual receipts.the little stough like cleaning has only increased slightly. i have posted before, that we file canadian income tax and use medical receipts for deductions including "DENTAL". that is what is called FACT.
having said that about price-he and his wife and the specialists that they bring in are quite competent most of the time and so are some other dentists.

Other people are also dealing with reality but their reality is different from Pedro's.
Luckily there are several very good to excellent dentists Lakeside with modern, immaculately clean offices to choose from. There is a dentist in a price range to suit everyone's needs and wants. How lucky are we?

having receipts on file for comparison is not real enough?since my wife is the person that prepares our income tax and was also a patient of dr. barragan are you questioning her take on reality too? and yes it's great to have a choice among several competent dentists because even generally competent dentists can sometimes foul up.
