A great alternative is to fly Vivaaerobus to Monterrey (low cost carrier)..... about an hour flight...... A shuttle bus takes you from the airport to the bus station, from where you take the bus to the border. Not much more expensive but more comfortable and faster.Grizzy wrote:Has anyone taken this trip recently? Thanks Rony. I may do this for the trip to Trxas. I expect to be bringing back a lot of stuff so the extra luggage fee would be to high coming back. Still wondering which bus company has the most comfy equipment.

I usually use ETN. They seat three across and show movies and sometimes have WiFi

ETN tells me they do not have bus service to Mcallen. I have searched out bus lines for a few days and am getting nowhere. is there actually a bus line that goes from anywhere near Guad to Texas? Mcallen, Laredo, Brownsville? Is it a secret on how to book a ticket? I am getting nowhere.

We are driving to McAllen leaving here early Sunday morning, October 19. We drive straight through, arriving at the border around 5:30PM. You would have to get yourself back here as we'll be going on to Dallas for an extended stay.
I know there is bus service to Laredo. However, the shopping is much better in McAllen as you probably know.
PM if you want to discuss riding along, sharing expenses. We stay at a Comfort Inn in Edinburg as it has the best deals and is easiest for the next morning's departure north. After we go by Costco for gas and some take out chow, we could drop you at a nearby motel. Costco is on the east edge of the main shopping area there as you probably also know.
PM me if you wish to discuss.

Sorry. I misunderstood you. ETN goes to Reynosa, then you cross over in another bus. There is a bus that leaves McAllen to San Luis Potosí but I forget but I forgot the name
