Typical Mexico
We arrived at Yves yesterday afternoon with a flat tire (dang) and asked our waiter if he knew anyone who could come fix it. He said no but he would ask around. Fifteen minutes later Yves comes to our table and asks for the trunk key saying the car is jacked up and ready to swap with the spare. Of course the spare was flat so the fix it guy takes it somewhere, airs it up then returns and installs it. How much I ask, "100 pesos, the young man says sheepishly." Oh no, here's 200 pesos and un gran gracias. "Oh no senior that is too much money," he replies. Good grief, there we were standing on a cobblestone road looking at each other in a modern day Mexican standoff mode thinking the other would not back down. Thankfully Yves appeared and our young hero left with the extra cien for his family.
Upon returning to our table the foursome at the next table asked what the do was all about and I told them. "Typical Mexico" they said as they smiled and saluted with their Margaritas.

You should tell your BIL not to pay mordida......just ask for the ticket.
Re: Typical Mexico
There might have been some irregularities with the vehicle's paperwork that he felt would be easier dealt with before it was towed to the impound...I was just commenting on how accommodating the transitos were to give him a ride to the ATM...CanuckBob wrote:viajero wrote:They gave my brother in-law a ride to an ATM when he didn't have enough money on him to pay the mordida they were demanding...Viva Mexico!CanuckBob wrote:Even the cops here will give you a ride to the gas station if you run out..........jaja.
