OK...I'm a Newbie to Lake Chapala and I have been putting off asking this question for months. Waiting mainly because I know how stupid I am probably going to feel when I find out the answer and hoping I could figure it out for myself. I give up so please be gentle!!!!!
What the heck is "TOB"? It's referenced on Inside Lakeside a lot as "read on TOB".

"The Other Board". There is another internet forum devoted to this area. It is owned by a local real estate agency, Coldwell Banker. They call the shots on what you can, and cannot, discuss on the forum.

If any member of this forum has ever referred to something on TOB that was not on chapala.com I have never seen it.

That might have been true before but I've seen references and even direct links to insidelakeside posted over there,sometimes by the moderators.

Viajero is correct. In the past, posts mentioning this board on chapala.com were deleted. A friend of mine once posted a link to something there in response to a question. Her post was deleted and she was banned! That was a while back and things are different now. This board is referenced both by its name and as TOB. I have seen links to posts here. Moderators have suggested posters go to this board for more information or to post "For Sale" items. There have been several referrals to this board if you want to be snarky or mean, because you "can say anything over there." They say it like it is a bad thing. One poster (our dear departed Bennie) even said there was a "gossip forum" here if you want to talk about other people.

Not true. I refer people from there to here all the time. Never been deleted.

I see. I knew that references to this board had been swiftly deleted in the past but had fairly recently been permitted to divert discussion about Tabu topics such as crime. Still, I wasn't sure what the rules were about that or if just any old body could mention this board just any old time, strictly on topic of course. I think I will refrain for the time being, I'm saving my "ban" for something grande.

If it was a big issue for the admin, he'd send me a message.

I think this group obsesses too much about TOB, frankly.

I'll continue to suggest that folks belong to both boards as each has separate value to local expats.

Mainecoon I was banned on the other board for wearing a jewish skull cap on my avatar. The long gone moderator said not gonna have this kinda trouble here. Lots of people were banned for nothing in the past. I do see it is different now but in the past not much justice was served by TOB moderation. How would you feel if you were me?

Zed, if I were you and recognized that the moderator who banned many for no reason was long gone, and I saw that it was different now, I would consider letting go of the past. I would try to allow myself different feelings about TOB based on the way it is now. I have seen a big difference in TOB over the past couple of years.

Just explaining why some folks hold a grudge. Yes I did say things had changed. But I will bet you still can't talk to anyone who owns or runs TOB. On this board the owner will talk to you if feel injustice. How would a Christian feel if told you could not have a cross in your avatar picture?? Yes things are much better now but yep I still hold a grudge due to no one caring at TOB.

Zed, I have communicated with mods on TOB on several occasions. They do care. But, if your grudge makes you feel better, by all means continue to carry it.
