Short visit cell phone idea

There's a company in Canada, Roam Mobility, that sells you a SIM card for $11. Once you have it and the corresponding phone number you can buy time in the US or just as of now, Mexico. For the US you can buy each day for C$4 for a lot of time. I've have used it and it's seamless. They've just added a Mexico system. The minimum is C$25 a week for 25 minutes but unlimited texting and lots of data. Plans go up accordingly. You use the same number as in the US. For a short visit it is likely a good idea. The only BUT is that right now you can't buy by days, only by the week, so if you are hangin' for 8 or 10 days you need to splurge or go without.

Or you can buy a cheap throw-away at any Oxxo or 7-11 for about $25.00 and they even give you some free minutes. You'll never use up $25.00 a week down here. I use my phone for everything and only use about $300 pesos every two months ($7.00 per week).

Yep. We have a cheapo TelCel phone and put 100 pesos on it every two months and that suffices nicely.
