Visiting during Easter week
We've been down to Lakeside in January, late April, and August. We are considering driving down for the week leading up to Easter and staying for the week after that, so we can see some of the Holy Week festivities. Questions for Lakesiders:
How are the crowds during those weeks?
I assume many things are closed, but is it so universal that it would be difficult to go out to a restaurant, for example?
We'll eventually move down to lakeside, so its not like we have to visit that week, so what say the locals: good time to visit or not?
Thanks!

Not much closed, but it is a zoo, traffic, everything crowded, it's the busiest holiday week in Mexico. Yikes!

Re: Visiting during Easter week
Everything is open here. Just a little difficult to get around. Visitors deal with it better than locals. We tend to bitch about it. But we bitch about everything, especially when it's crowded in town.
It's a really interesting time to be here, especially when you're on a holiday and haven't done it before.

It is a lot worse at the beach. We don't notice it is much worse locally than the usual weekend around here now. Just don't try to go to PV. :)

I love Semana Santa here -- so much going on, especially the Passion Play.
Reserve your lodgings now, get a place where you can walk to everything so you don't have to worry about traffic, and enjoy!

Thanks, all
Since I will eventually move lakeside and be able to experience it as a local, I'm thinking the 3-4 day drive there (and again back) sandwiched around a crowded 4-5 days during Semana Santa may be biting off more than I can chew. Now that I think about it, I bet the border crossings could be a mess at that time, too.
Thanks for the insight; I look forward to when I can join the club and start bitchin' 'bout all these crowds!
